My rabbit Jenifer died today at 8 and a half years old. Apparently the vet has never seen an 8 and a half year old rabbit before so Jenifer was pretty lucky. Jenifer's nickname was Jellybean, hence my username on this forum. I'm going to miss her loads and so are so many other people who have lived with her. I got Jenifer when I was 15 years old and suffering from severe OCD and a lack of diagnosis on my other conditions (Autism and Tourettes). She climbed up on the sofa when I was sad and licked my face clean of tears. She also snuggled up to me when I was low and let me stroke her gently. The past few months weren't great for Jenifer because she had arthritis and was starting to deteriorate. She caught pneumonia due to a weak nasal passage and that is why she was so sick today. Eventually the vet made the decision that she needed to be put to sleep. I had to go to the vets to say goodbye and it was really horrible. I have lots of good memories of Jen but obviously the pain is still quite raw at the moment and I can't stop crying.

Oh I'm so sorry. I know how hard it is. Went through something similar with my dog Will. I know it's hard and I don't know what to say but I'm sorry and I'm glad you have those good memories.

I have to say for a moment I thought someone else was talking about you the WP member and the breath got drawn out of me.

Just the fact that her name is Jenny made me want to respond. My ex-s name is Jenny. She was really sick and I was taking care of her. That was when we were the closest. But then I betrayed her afterwords. I feel very bad that I betrayed her, remembering just how sick she was and how much I hurt her. I remember at some point I saw a dying flower and I tried to rescue it by putting it in the water. I called that flower Jenny, after her. I think it is really sweet you decided to call your rabbit Jenny. I am in a habbit of calling everything sick or weak Jenny. And I am sorry that she died. I don't like when jennys are dying. I want all of the Jennys to be happy.

I wish there was something I could say or do. Your Jellybean sounds like she was a very special friend. Time will help, but the pain never really goes away. At least Jellybean will always be in your heart.

Hang in there.

So sorry for your loss. Your post is a great memorial to the marvellousness of pets.

I had a pet bunny several years ago. He also made it to something like 8 years, which is quite old for a bunny.

Your Jenny is very cute, although she's a bunny rabbit, so that's to be expected.

I'm really sorry... It's so hard when a pet has to be put down... I feel your pain...

Jenifer sounded like a wonderful companion. She can rest in peace knowing she provided you with so many years of joy.

Did she mention she put her down? I thought she said she died natural death?

Sorry to hear about this.

When I was a kid and my favorite cat died, I imagined she would reincarnate as the next cat that would enter my life. That gave me a lot of relieve, although I'm not even that spiritual. But now I have a new cat, that actually often reminds me of that one that passed away years ago... Could it be?

At first your thread title scared me because I actually thought you passed away and someone had came on here and posted the announcement. Then I was happy to see it was your bunny rabbit that died. What I mean is I was glad it wasn't you that died.

Sorry about the rabbit.

I wasn't the only one who thought that! Whew!

Jellybean, I'm sorry for your loss. I lost a dog in June and I still miss him :(
