See, I'm a bit worried I'm about to or have fallen into the abyss known as schizophrenia, and I want to design a test or select tests that can be used for testing my cognition, so that I could possibly detect changes in mental functioning which would implicate schizophrenia.
I heard one of the things that first happen to schizophrenics is that they lose concentration as the disease progresses. How can you measure concentration? Can it be measured by timing yourself on an abstract reasoning test and making note of how quickly you finished it?
I'm curious about this because I noticed that my ability to recall memories seems impaired compared to my peers. Whenever the teacher asks a question, people raise their hands within .5 seconds but it usually takes me 3 seconds or so to fetch the relevant memories. I'm thinking this might be a sign that I'm at the foothills of the mountain of schizophrenia, so I want to design or find a test to conclusively prove that my cognitive ability has fundamentally and permanently deteriorated. I'm thinking I need to measure it soon because I could start my decline within the next year or so.
Is there a counselor or therapist on campus that you could talk to?
You've mentioned that you are currently taking classes. If it's college, then you might qualify for free psychological services. My school offered it, for example.
Honestly, I know next to nothing about schizophrenia. If you are worried about it, it might be a good idea to talk to a professional. Investigating on your own can only get you so far. It's the same with actually ruling out AS-- sometimes you need to see a clinician in order to be properly evaluated.
That said, a quick google search turned this up:
