I'm an alcoholic, and yesterday was my first day of sobriety. I told a few friends about it (they had no idea as I mostly hid my drinking from them) and was told that since everything was hazy yesterday and didn't feel quite real that I could be at risk of seizures anywhere between the third to fifth day clean.

I am seriously tempted to reach for the bottle of Jack in my cupboard. :-|

Don't reach!

Well done you for that one day!

Can you find something to do that will keep you occupied and be quietly satisfying?

i think you should not. i'm drunk and being drunk is s**t when you're depressed

you should be careful not to have a seizure and maybe make sure someone is around or can call regularly to check up on you? i didnt used to like you that much but now i really do and wouldnt want anythign bad to happen. i've never heard anything about soberness seizures:/
oh i just googled it. could you not stay at a friends or your sisters?
i'm sure you will be fine

I don't know. I have my kids until Monday. What if a seizure hits before then?!

Okay. Thanks. I'll do that.

I just googled it too.

Could you phone or email Alcoholics Anonymous and ask them for advice based on your drinking history? They should have a good idea of what your personal risk level is for withdrawal problems and be able to suggest solutions for you, as well as support.

Old School stuff REALLY worx

A glass of orange juice with two tablespoons of honey
Stirring will not be a problem (specially for an aspie)
Idea is that Honey pre-digested sugar
it carries the Vitamin C Directly into you
Old timers will attest to this remedy, it's what worx for many people when the shakes kick in
Warning - Syrup has the opposite effect, it must be Real Honey - Best of Luck to you.

I haven't gotten any shakes, but I'll certainly keep that in mind if I do. Thanks. :)

It's the way of detox for those without insurance and it really works
Thing is, if you really a long-term 24/7 drinker
you might want to ask someone to stay over with you (Local AA is everywhere)

I know - I know - All Stangers suck - no doubt about it - however.....
Abrupt cessation from alcohol is proven to be fatal
not just kinda fatal
just plain fatal
like as in
done

:skull:

Oh f**k... I drank throughout the day.

I don't really want to grab my alcohol and have to do this all over again, but now I'm really really scared.

Know that there is no need to be afraid - shocked - skeered

If you are drinking, detox will not set in for Quite some - enjoy

If you really are considering stopping drinking all together, listen.

Now is no time to think about such depressing thoughts
think about the drink when it is thinking about you
then you can have an interesting conversation
