I need help exiting a circuit of non-progress in every measurable area.

I continually think I'm on the verge of getting out of it but I never do.

Since 2005.

People tell me I need to try harder and I'm not utilizing the resources available and such but I am exhausted and frustrated to tears from trying.

It is just beyond my control and I need help as much as someone who's fallen into a hole.

If I could just have something to stand on.

Probably my biggest problem is that my moods and attention shift so quickly I never get anything finished (or even started most of the time).

I separated this so weirdly cause I realized I myself wouldn't want to read the giant blocks of words I usually write.

Hello purchase.

I am not sure exactly what you mean by 'trying'.

I am going to assume you are referring to learning of some sort.

Learning to do something that I am not very interested in is exhausting. For example, I have undertaken a course in MS Office to make myself more attractive to potential employers. I can manage up to two hours of that before being exhausted and wanting to give up. When I am interested in a subject I can spend all day researching it.

Is it possible that your current endeavours are not focussed on what you would like to do, but what others would like you to do?

There's a few strategies here, mostly aimed at parents or teachers.

I'm not sure it will help much. Why I can't just get things done is something I don't understand. I spend a lot of time wasting, flicking between activities, rather than tackling them solidly.

Thank you Orr and Moog. :) It's actually things I really want to get done. Yes executive function is the issue, might as well try to act as the parent to my own inner elementary student and apply those suggestions! It is a little strange how there aren't more articles for adults with these problems...
