I've made my choice...

Hello, Wrong Planet-eers, possibly for the last time. I apologize in advance if this is the wrong section to post something like this, but I didn't think this would fit under any other category but Haven.

I had a little conflict with a moderator last night, because he muscled into one of my posts to a thread I responded to that was more then 2 years old and removed it. I felt as though I was in the right, but he said those weren't his rules, he was just following orders...

Heh...you know who else uses those words? Slimeball lawyers who issue out summons to people. They can *hardly* contain their glee when they flex their 'muscles' of authority.

So I told him that I was ready to make my choice, and this is my choice: I've decided it's better to go down in flames and get banned for something you believe in, then to just sign off forever and live on in obscurity like a coward.

So I'm offering myself up to Moog (preferably) or any other moderator, to make that all-powerful decision to bring the Ban Hammer down on me. It would make me feel better knowing that I got excommunicated for something I felt didn't need to be meddled with. So I double dare you, Moog, ban me! It'll make you and me feel better.

I asked you not to make attacking posts. You could have expressed your discontent with the other person's comments without it being an attack. That the other person made attacking comments years before I was even a member here, I can't really do anything about now.

This is Alex's site, and he gets to choose how we are to conduct ourselves here. Some of those choices I agree with more than others, but since I have agreed to moderate, I should attempt to enforce the rules as evenly as I can.

Wrong, but if you really want to be banned, you can just ask in a straightforward way.

I think you're a very sensitive person who has taken a light rebuke very personally, and I would encourage you to remain on the boards. But don't break the rules.

Moog, You're goddamn RIGHT I'm an extremely sensitive person! I would actually compare myself to Fluttershy, of all characters, in that I am extremely sensitive, shy, and apologetic. Sort of like...Minor Injury Overreaction if you will.

Also, my apologies for calling you out to ban me...I should've aimed that request at the highest power, Alex himself. (if he himself has an account here) I simply cannot bring myself to simply quit and sign off forever, knowing that my good posting record was marred and interfered with by a moderator. I would sincerely feel MUCH better if someone simply banned my account, PERMANENTLY.

And I don't expect you to do me that favor either...now I'd rather get the Ban Hammer from the Big Cheese himself.

I doubt you're going to be blessed with Alex's personal attention just for a ban.

One of the reasons he appoints mods is so he doesn't have to spend all his time here dealing with these things.

I see that you're having the classic 'black and white' perspective on this issue; if you can't have your 'perfect' record in your mind, then that's really bad.

I can't stop you from getting a ban if you want, but really, a minor rebuke for addressing someone in a way contravened in the rules is next to nothing in the grand scheme of things, and there is no reason (external to your own feelings) you should not continue to use the site.

If it will make you feel better, I will ban you, but I will not take any enjoyment in doing so.

No, Moog....I don't want you to just ban me for something piddly like breaking a minor rule. I'd rather you have a good reason for doing so...
