This week I had lots of appointments and a social commitment so I had to be out for 4 days in a row. Now after crying and falling asleep under my heavy blanket, I can't do a thing except look up stuff and read. I don't like myself right now and want to feel better. I'm not motivated at all and all the days that I was out I really wanted to be here working on my special interest stuff. Now I'm even beyond that. There is not much food here either and I can't even intereact with my husband to ask him to go out for food. I'm even beyond working on my special stuff. My husband coughs and I want to bite his head off.

I love the special interest part of aspiness but I don't like this part.

Any ideas how I can find balance so that I don't get this far out of whack.

Thanks, N

this should be in the haven

try to make time for yourself as often as you feel necessary. i like to have at least one day a week where i don't have to go anywhere or see anyone if possible. like time to recharge or something. your special interest is probably what provides your downtime, which might explain why you found yourself wanting to retreat to that instead of feeling motivated to do those other things

I read/avoid social contact during breaks since most of the time as I work closely with people. It helps me calm down and relax. But I'm stuck out of my comfort zone so much that I do break down after a while. If I'm going somewhere I take my DSLR as well as my kindle (free 3g), and my tablet, along with my phone/chargers. Thats at least how I cope - I find comfort in the familiarity of my phone/computer setup but it helps that technology/photography/information are my special interests. I try my best not to get riled up or upset or my adrenaline surges and at that point I lack credibility or reason. In cases where I've lost control I hide my face the best I can and avoid contact because communicating will make me break down into crying.

But I find when I start to feel that meltdown feeling I avoid as much contact as possible/try to read or do something to distract my focus. The main thing I do is detail oriented activity's and quietness (using earplugs), and decreasing other sensory input where possible.
