Just wondering if you guys know of assisted living accommodation in england.

I am trying to weigh up whether something like this would be necessary for me in the future.

I lived alone for a year but I found it difficult and my health deteriorated.

I also have no concept of the cost.

I dont need much help really, just peace of mind of someone checking up on me, so I can reduce my anxiety levels.

Don't they have some sort of social workers or psychiatric nurses that will pay you a visit regularly over there? I've heard of such a thing before but don't know any details.

If you don't mid me asking, what independent living skills do you have trouble with? For me it's housekeeping (except laundry goes ok) and time management. Sometimes getting up in the morning is a problem if I'm having sleep problems.

Getting up, planning organising being on time can all be tricky having both aspergers and adhd. Even if i manage to get my uni work done il end up sacrificing a lot of sleep and that throws things off balance, then il try to think back when i last washed my hair etc. I get very anxious going to supermarkets. I worry endlessly and being alone is hard in long periods of time as having family etc stabilises me a great deal. It is inevitable I will need to move as I live in a small town and it is improbable I will get a job close by. Left to my own devices I end up getting on the thin side as I do not keep up to date with shopping etc

Grocery stores have some real potential sensory issues. With the floors and walls hard, sounds echo in a harsh and 'jangley' manner. Fluorescent lights. Smells from soap aisle. Plus, the cashiers are often rushed or disengaged or not very communicative.

I do much better in smaller stores where I know where everything is that I usually buy. I like to have a plan of what I am buying. Large stores stress me with the smells, crowds of customers and parents who cannot keep their feral children in line. Its very stressful weaving a trolley around lots of people and aisles.

It's not the dysfunctional living skills that are my biggest reason for staying with my family, it's how isolated I would be (even despite being on the spectrum) if I lived alone. I would only see people a couple hours a week. I'd get really weird and paranoid that way!
