Feel like I'm losing my friends
All NT friends and they're not in to anything I'm in to. Music among a few other things are all we really have most of the time. Just kinda wish they could stop growing up so quick for a while. Ages of them are 21, 20 and 18. The 18 year old is my best friend and she's becoming more and more ahead in life than I'll ever get to and it's leaving me confused and sad.
I made something out of Lego for her earlier and then the thought of 'she's almost 19, why would she like it' I'll email her about these feelings but she's busy at the moment so I don't know when I'd get a reply. Felt I needed to rant and get feelings out a bit on here.
I feel like a huge spare part in everyones life and I don't see where I'll fit in once they get married/have kids etc. I can't keep talking to people younger than myself/my friends cause in a few years all this will just happen again. It wouldn't ever look right being friends with children but at least I'd get longer with them and they're more on my mental level.
Just wish time and life would slow down. It all feels too much lately :/

I know the feeling. I made an effort to make friends around people my age and most of them have families and children. In my late teens and early 20's however I felt completely alone. That's around the age you're suppose to be out there in the real world making something of yourself. This was around my deepest time of depression. I wanted people to care and I wanted people to think I was something I was not which made things worse. Most of the closest friends I made were in my group therapy. I don't know why but even the ones with families and busy lives were very accepting towards me, I guess because after our talking about our struggles we sort of knew we were all in it together. Anyway I think that's where I decided I didn't care. If friends (not that I ever had many) were going their own way so be it. I wasn't going to try and impress them but rather impress myself by pursuing my own hobbies no matter how ret*d. I think I'm both comfortable but at the same time lonely in this time of life. However I blame most of the loneliness from having isolated myself from potential friends with which is something I personally need to work on. OP, I feel your pain when I was around your age. Sometimes in my life I just had to let it go and be myself. I find myself getting along better with age groups either too young or old but age has never made a difference to me. I think for most older people around my grandparents age, they go back to being kids again or become themselves imo. Little kids aren't even at the age where they are busy worrying about where there place should be. That's what I love about kids, they bring out the inner kid in me and encourage me to be creative.

I know it's hard, (been there, done that) but you will have to develop your own solitary interests, and learn how to be comfortable in your own skin, and by your own self.
But remember, you are always among friends here at WP. ![]()
