I need to be at work. It's all I have that gives me value, since I seem to be good at it.

But weekends, I'm alone. Sick of going out by myself. Sick of being unable to talk to people or strangers.

My birthday is next weekend. Got no one to spend it with except probably with my folks. How sad is that. I'll be 28, and spend my birthday with my parents.

28, marks 2 years until I'm 30. In the next two years, I WILL do something important. Make my great film, or find love. Something. Or else, I'm going to keep my promise to myself, and end it all. Because if it hasn't happened by 30, it ain't going to happen, and I don't want to wind up in the obits as some lifelong bachelor who died and wasn't discovered for a week, and was cremated without a service.

If you hate the weekends then you must really despise the holidays. I can just imagine. Valentine's Day must make you cringe. I have a routine of cataloging my digital classical music collection so every day, including the weekends, are the same. Wasn't always like this, though. It seems like now that I'm older loneliness is easier to handle. When I was younger it literally killed me. Glad I survived it, though. Like they say - it gets better.

i hate my birthday most of all. My family gives me gifts and celebrates, and for what? What the hell did I do to deserve it? If I had my way, I'd forgo birthdays entirely. When I accomplish something worth celebrating, then so be it. Until then, I'll just keep on hiding my birthday. Because I just know if I mention it, people will roll their eyes at me, and mutter, "Sheesh, the loser wants us to celebrate his birthday."

Boy, you sure are hard on yourself. I hope things aren't as bad as it seems.

I made a promise to myself, if I haven't gone to school and started my way into primatogy by the time I'm 25 I will end it all as well, I'm 24 since April 9th and spent it the same way you did... its depressing man, I can't stand it.

The only advice I can really give - find an organized activity. Anything you think you can get into that'll have like minds. Whether its a interest group, a workout group, a sports group, martial arts group, anything that can meet regularly - especially if it both leads to new people and its something that makes you feel better about yourself. I can't promise that it'll deliver the love of your life in two years or a finished movie but it sounds like you have way more time alone that you particularly want - I think doing something like this would help you get rid of some of that and make your time outside of work both more occupied and more positive/productive.

I can verify as well - some of those activities got me through some of the darkest bouts of existential depression that I've had so far to date. Can't guarantee I'd still be here without them.

I hate weekends too.... all week I'm busy with school, acquaintances and schoolwork... weekend hits and I can't even focus on assignments due next week, I sit here and either type on my blog, this forum, or play World of Warcraft.

May I suggest World of Warcraft? You talk to people like here but mostly just to get objectives completed. Or if fantasy games aren't your thing, any video games at all? There are some really good ones out there that you can go online and play with other people. My guild on WoW actually has a facebook page and does in-real-life meetups (one is upcoming this month).

Organized activity is a great suggestion too-- though I would struggle with committing to something every weekend and build up anxiety about returning if I happened to have a meltdown and miss a scheduled event. Online it's easier! "My cable/power/computer went out", My dog crapped on the carpet and I had to go, etc. etc. tons of good excuses, no one will care. :) If you don't like video games there is always stuff like "farmville", "angry birds" etc.

Or perhaps you like to write, read, draw, paint, etc.? Those activities when I do them always get me engaged with other people: I paint outside with watercolor when it's nice, I read at the library or coffee shop where sometimes people approach me, and writing gets me comments on my blog and other interaction over emails, etc.

Just a few suggestions, I don't know you but hopefully this speaks to you somewhere.
