I love going on a vacation, I love exploring different places, it's not the vacation itself what I don't look forward to, it's the people I go with what make me nervous. I don't have many friends, so I usually go away with my aunt. I am very close to my aunt, and she might be a possible Aspie too. We like peaceful vacations with no horrible loud kids, so we go on coach-touring, where you stay in a nice hotel by the sea and go on excursions in the day, and there are mostly older people who also go, so there's slim chance of having screaming toddlers, hyper kids or rowdy teenagers with you. Yes, it does sound great with just the two of us, but every time there has always been one thing that has come along and spoiled it: the coach driver. Every time we have ever gone away with my aunt, she always somehow attracts the coach driver, whoever he may be. Except from last time we went, but that was because she had her boyfriend with her. But this time her boyfriend isn't going with us, so I've got to spend my holiday feeling rejected and ignored. This has happened twice before, so there's bound to be a third time. I really don't know what is up with the coach drivers. I think they are so ignorant and selfish when they're all over one person and leaving the other just standing there the whole time. And I don't know what's up with my aunt either because for one thing she has got a boyfriend, and another thing she should know better that these coach drivers only want one thing, and after the vacation is over she will never see him again, and she doesn't even like men really, only her boyfriend. So this doesn't even need to happen. We paid good money for a nice, relaxing vacation, where we have the chance to visit lovely new places and just relax, not to be flirting around with a stupid man who she wouldn't of even fancied otherwise and who she will never see again. I would understand it if we both went on a dating week-end where we go out to a bar and purposefully meet men, but this holiday is not what it is for, and it takes all the fun out of it when one of you always gets fancied and the other one just gets ignored. What makes it worse is when she gets a silly bit of attention from a man, she spends the rest of the duration looking for him and panicking to see him. I'm a young Aspie and even I know better than my aunt.

It's not fair, why can't my life just be simple? I want a vacation to relax, not to feel ignored and upset.

I completely agree with you and have experienced a similar frustrating situation: My second cousin once removed was treated like the queen of my parent's house, had my room, everything! They even made me cook dinner for her along with everyone else! I was so damn stressed I threw up after dinner.... what little I could eat.

If the world would just consider everyone equally and if one person you're supposed to be with would just treat you more importantly than some lowly coach driver, it'd be great, right?

The only person on this earth who treats me well is my husband. He's got his priorities straight and he's an Aspie too. So what's with the rest of our family/loved ones/friends?
