I am working an hourly job. I should be in college getting a degree. Instead I just didn't go to class so that didn't work out. I do not know anyone my age outside of work.

I will be going to college in the fall or next year. A year after most people, so just a wasted year for me

You are not wasting the year. You are gaining real working world experience. Hopefully, you are also putting some of your income aside to help pay your college expenses. Try to either pay as you go at school, or at least, get the smallest student loan possible, to make it through. Too many people saddle themselves with a student loan and end up taking decades to pay it off. That's not a good idea. Also, the banks are fond of playing fast and loose with the rules when people are having a hard time making payments on the loan. If you have trouble making payments, they will usually add a ton of fees onto it and then sell the loan. This raises the monthly amount due, and then you can't make payments with the new loan owner, who will then add tons more fees and sell the loan again. This keeps going on and on. Eventually the amount owed is many times what the original loan was for, but you are still on the hook for all of these add on fees and penalties.

Part of the problem is that people will all too often study for careers that are already saturated with people, or that are not hiring much at the time, or that are in decline. This leads to problems finding a job in the chosen profession after graduation. It means that the person has saddled themselves with a huge debt for a career that they can't work at. Dumb! Make sure that you check into the careers you are interested in before picking one to go into debt over.

The vocational schools can be a really good choice, as they are often cheaper than regular colleges and universities, and the jobs they train for are generally more in demand. So don't neglect considering this option.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you do. :D
