I'm trying to lose weight (aren't we all) and I was shopping at Walmart, and I happened to find myself in the frozen food section looking at pizzas. I thought, what the hell, just ONE microwave pizza wouldn't hurt. So I buy it and take it home. That was a week ago. On Saturday, I nuke the pizza and eat it. Within a couple hours, I felt SICK! I ran out to the store and loaded up on chocolate to balance out all the crap in the pizza. After eating all that chocolate, I felt WORSE! I finally took a shot of lemon juice and after a couple days I felt a little better, but I was so bloated that my weight went up seven lbs! It's floating back down a little at a time.

Why do food makers have to put so much garbage in their stuff, like tons of salt and high fructose corn syrup (ick) and then there's the meat with "pink slime" in it and the mechanically separated chicken that you really don't want to dwell on for too long. If I had my own land I would raise my own food, but I live with my parents and can't raise food animals, and my mom can't bear the thought of killing anything not even a chicken. So it's off to Walmart I go. No wonder everybody is so fat. It really sucks. I hate the food makers. Really really hate them.

(Mods, keep this in The Haven, my intent was to express a personal gripe, not to seek health advice.)

I'd suggest just buying fresh foods and cooking them.

I also think that loading up on chocolate to "balance out" the stuff in the pizza was a really bad idea.

So don't eat processed food.

Home-made pizza tastes way better than frozen anyway.

Have you ever tried a pizza oven now thats travelling 1st class all the way it's so awesome it can turn soy "chesse" in to melty goo what I'm saying it's super hot so the pizza puffs up like a pakorah crusty on the outiside and soft in the middle my it's so good , I can't believe for so long I used the crappy upright oven to do my pizzas. 8O

Beer (homebrew) and pizza every Saturday =

Hmm, I think I've gone on enough about additives.

I'll add though...most microwave meals taste disgusting to me.

Food is a business, just like any other business, and additives/preservatives increase the profit of the business.

My advice is to buy fresh fruits & veggies and learn a few simple cooking techniques, such as how to make soup from scratch. Combined with exercise, this will be a nice weight-loss plan for you. :).

Yeah seriously. Usually after pizza I drink orange juice, it's refreshing and isn't loaded with fat. I can't conceive of any situation where eating chocolate would make you feel better

My pet peeve is people eating too much meat, especially processed and red meat, though I might be biased in that regard though because I think most meat (especially red) is disgusting. It's just really wasteful to eat that much expensive meat when you should be eating fruit, veg and starchy foods.

yeah and it's quite a bit more expensive since you have to buy all the ingredients...but I agree it tastes much better and I'd rather have it any day.

I could never imagine even wanting to eat chocolate after pizza, sounds terrible.....but I do like spicy Cheetos at least the taste, but they always make me feel like crap the next day so I try not to eat them often.

True, but I reckon it's worth the price; and you can use the leftover ingredients for sandwich fillings and such.
I can't afford it every week, though.

Well it is certainly worth the price if you have the money, or if someone else who is planning on sharing the pizza has the money but of course that's easier said than done.

The last time I did it I made the pizza last two nights, so I saved money that I would have otherwise spent on the next nights dinner.

Orange juice isn't good either to help digestion! It may not be loaded with fat, but fruit juice is full of sugar.

I would just greatly simplify your diet, switch to drinking only water and don't eat carbs unless its the occasional piece of fruit or at worst 100% wheat or wraps but hell I don't even eat those if I can help it. If you can part with stuff like sandwiches/tacos that will help a lot too. Flour = almost always bad. Eating simple makes life a lot easier and well..simple. You don't feel like s**t all the time either. It might be hard for like...a month or two but eventually you won't care. Worst part is other people (YOU GOTTA EAT THIS PIZZA WITH US) but who cares what others think? Let them enjoy their processed flour and grease, even if they are skinnier than you their stomachs will not thank them for what they're doing.

Gotta be careful with fruit though, don't overeat it just because you think its healthy, the acid gives you bad gas. Avoid ALL juices, they are not good for you at all, do not listen to anyone. Diet soda is just as bad for you as regular too. Just drink water and try to get either organic milk or skim. I would say just to avoid all processed stuff in general if you are on a budget and can afford fancier stuff or don't live near a Wholes Food.

Also you wanna lose weight? Run some laps, really. Best way.

To be on subject though: yes I too hate processed foods. I hate how they are crammed down children's throats at school and I blame them along with corn starch for the huge obesity/overweight epidemic in the US. Truly horrible, I recall reading an article where a young girl was either suspended or forced to throw away her parent's healthy packed lunch because they thought it didn't have enough nutrition (BS). So they gave her a bunch of chicken nuggets instead. That made me so mad.

Processed foods always make me feel tired, as if they fill my stomach but don't actually give my body what it needs. Whenever I was in a period of eating mainly processed stuff my general sense of well-being went down. And I don't even eat meat, which saves a lot of junk too, and STILL it seems to suck, often it just seems to exist out of coloured grease with a lot of additives.

I'm not a health freak, I love wine, but I do believe there's a slight danger in eating too much processed foods. I understood there's an addiction component when it comes to greasy, salty or sweet stuff, it makes our body crave for more. Okay, I'm not a dietician but perhaps a part of the weight issues in the western world lies in just that.

I noticed that cooking some vegetables, or making something easy with herb bouillon, mushrooms, potatoes isn't a lot of work at all but still makes you a much better dinner.

I absolutely hate sweetened drinks. I abhor sugary sodas and juices. They are sickening and the sugar coats my teeth and I get an insulin spike and I feel terrible. I also dislike processed foods and I can feel a big difference between eating them on a regular basis and eating more "whole" foods. Overly processed foods just make me feel miserable. I'm very sensitive to how they affect my body so it makes it worse (or is it better, because I eat fewer unhealthy foods?).

I am aware that most food is "processed" to some extent (flours and breads, nut butters, orange juice, dairy, canned foods like tuna and beans...), it's the food that is absurdly saturated with simple sugars and sodium and man-made preservatives that annoys me to no end. It's almost impossible to purchase unsweetened cranberries or cranberry juice, which saddens me because I love that taste.
