:-( Ok. My sister Erica is turning 30 on Sunday. For over 6 months since BEFORE CHRISTMAS! (I LOVE planning ahead ok). :-) I bought her this wine stopper that says "Birthday Girl" and I was planning to open the wine and open it putting the stopper inside then put the wine in the refrigerator to get cold. My plan for MONTHS! So when she sees the wine she sees the stopper in it that says "Birthday Girl" NOW! Dad just informed me that I can't do that since opening the wine hot (I just now put it in the fridge) would ruin it so and putting it back in there after opening it would ruin it.

I WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD ME THIS MONTHS AGO! NOW I FEEL BAD! MY WHOLE PLAN RUINED!! !! !! !! !! !! !! :-( I decided to send her a $30 Itunes card but still MY PLAN IS RUINED! and I feel terrible!! !! ! :-(

I think I'm a bad person, this made me laugh.

I don't think opening a wine right before cooling it will ruin it, as long as you don't store it for long after that.
In any case, you'll have a cute story to tell that shows you care about her.

Oh, and to answer the question: yes, I have troubling adjusting when life refuses to go my way. I wish I were more flexible and spontaneous.

I am always disappointed when it happens and I sometimes get upset I feel why even bother.

Yeah, I understand completely how that feels. I am going through a lot of the same thing myself these days.

I can't offer any words of wisdom - but if somebody has any to post in this thread, I'll be just as glad to read them as you probably will be.
