I had a friend contact me on Friday via fb and asked me how was I was doing and told me that she is out of town. She also told me that her husband's close friend passed away last weekend and then mentioned that the funeral was going to be this upcoming weekend at a certain church while also giving me the address. It gave me a mixed message that it would be okay for me to come even know I only met the guy once.

So I told her that I was going to go to funeral. She then wrote a very short message with me by mentioning that she was did not think it was appropriate for me to attend since I didn't really know their friend that well. To be honest, I don't know him.

I blew up at her and said that I felt like she could have worded things differently without acting like a snob about it.

I am also fragile over another situation too. In many ways, that response did not help.

Since your friend gave you the address of the funeral, it sounded like an invitation to me also.

What's the other situation? It will be good to get other people's opinion.

She told me which church the funeral would be at and the date. I thought that she saying to me, "Even though you didn't know our friend then you are more than welcome."

So I called her and I would be there for them. She wrote back and that that there was really not point to be there because

A) I was not obligated to go
B) Because I did not know him

I thought, "Then why are you putting this information down if you did not want me going in the first place? She has a habit of talking about something as if it is an open opportunity. Then when I want to do something, it is was she slams the glass door in my face.
