You use to be able to see my abs. I was in athletic shape. I had so much energy.
I had a life, and I had things to do. I was volunteering, and on a diet. I looked great,
but then I just became really tired. I didn't know what it was. I craved food more than ever before.

I haven't had friends in a long time, I haven't been loved or "loved" in a long time, and I haven't
eaten desserts or sweets or treats in a long time. So what did I do? Well I have no idea if the world is going to end
in 2012, and if it does, well I want to experience it the best I can - because I know I will not find a job, nor
will I find a girlfriend this year. So I sit around and eat all day. I try to keep it 2000-3000 calories and some days I keep it to 1300 calories or less. But I like to binge eat because it makes me feel good. I use to try and participate in the economy
and in life in general, but jobs are disappearing like crazy, and they're even talking about a draft.

Currencies are collapsing, and going into more debt and coming out with no job doesn't entice me anymore so
I sit at home and use my disability money to gamble in the stock market and eat. I'm just really tired with my life because
I don't have a family who supports or loves me nor do I have friends who support me or love me, so I
eat my feelings everyday. I sit around on my computer googling pictures of Cakes and cookies and pizza and cookie pizza. I eat candy, ice cream sandwiches, pizza. I try my best to not do it, but it's really hard.

I've basically just become so depressed and unmotivated from all of the economic data and real-life events and negative feedback.

canada's talking about a DRAFT?! and i thought america was terrible.
do take better care of yourself, once the weight comes on it is many times harder to get off, trust me on this. a poor diet/lack of exercise early in life sets you up for lots of diseases when you get to be my age. you are young so you can more easily change course here. and if you have enough money to gamble in the stock market you also have enough money to invest in equities that pay you to own them at least. think at&t and altria group, or conoco phillips, all of which pay roughly 5% dividend yields which is better than any bank CD. whether or not the world ends this december 21, you still need to take care of yourself now.

If you don't think you would benefit from therapy or can't get any, try making at least one small goal for yourself to focus on. It can help to distract you from eating too much. If you work on learning a skill in which you are interested, you could become employable without going into debt (you were talking about getting an education, right?) and have a hobby that helps you deal with depression. You could also try volunteering to do something. That could also lead to a job in the future. Just do something for yourself for right now so you don't focus so much on jobs and money for the future.

Also, look into getting groceries delivered so you don't have to be face-to-face with junk food in the store and feel tempted. Or make the food (maybe even photograph if it you like pictures like that) and then donate it to a friend, neighbor, or homeless shelter.

Drafts can be considered akin to "make work" type jobs in the US's great depression.

You wanna know the best way to lose weight? Go broke.

Seriously, I've lost 20 lbs in the last 2 months because I can't afford to buy food.

I wish I was making that up... :(

I can relate. We've got several big bills to pay over the next couple of months. The only way we can pay them is by not buying any food! We are living entirely off the vegetables I'm growing in the garden and the eggs from a few chickens. The wife and I have lost lots of weight.

@WhiteWidow: I'm not trying to make small of your predicament, but it sounds like you are worrying over things that will likely never happen (end of world, currency collapse etc) I think you are spending too much time worrying over conspiracies and doom and gloom instead of finding some things to enjoy and look forward to. You may also find counselling useful too. Better to talk to someone and get help than moping around eating pizza waiting for the end of civilization!

Call me crazy, but I always thought there was something kind of fun about farming. I'm sure I'm mistaken and I just like petting animals.

The fun can wear off fast when you have to directly eat what you farm, once it becomes very much a matter of life and less life.

Stop eating badly, start lifting more and doing more cardio... That fat will burn off and you will have more muscle.
