I have no idea what just happened. last week I just fell in love with bees, for no reason, and now im completly entranst with them. i have already develupet a love for them. they are over running my other interests and what litte i care for my family.
all that i can think of is that i have had an interest in them for some time and that i have finaly just "snaped" under the stress of life and revertad to one hyper-anti socail interest?

has any one else had something like this or am i just crazy "kind of hope i am" or have advise?

Sometimes special interests do just seem to appear out of nowhere. It's possible that you are using this as an escape from other stresses.

Indulge in it, but not to the point where it causes you any harm (psychologically or otherwise), and try to take a break from it every few days if possible.

Who knows--maybe you'll get a career as a beekeeper. :D

People who work with bees can actually make decent money, I've heard. In fact, bees are one of most studied species insects because they're one of the most evolved and societal forms of non-human life. It might be worth looking into.

When I was a kid, the same thing happened to me. I was so fascinated with bees. I loved how hives had so many bees. When ever I saw a hive in a house or in a wooden beehive I used to get so fascinated and wanted to see what was inside the hive and see all the bees. I also used to think common yellow jackets were bees and when I saw the nests in the ground, I used to think the hole where the hive was went down forever.

Bee's. They know what they want. They know how to get it. They do it. Simple :)

To answer the question within your post, my interests have changed so much over the years, that I often feel like I'm having a mid-life crisis due to the fact that even I don't know who I am or where I'm going in life.

In just the last 12 months, I have gone from being fascinated with android programming, website building, psychology, hardware programming, and martial arts. I know very little about any of those topics, as just as I was getting somewhere with my self studies, I found something else more interesting and moved on. It's normal, for us, but frustrating at times.

My only advice is, if your interests become physical, take the safety precausions needed. And be careful with your money. Try to rationalize spending. Some of my books I've bought are anything but cheap :(

Enjoy yourself :D

Go for it man, worst case, you'll have some fresh honey, best case you can pull in some good money.
All while doing something that's going to make you happy.
Its a win win for you.
Start making the housings and collecting the equipment over the winter and be set up and ready when you can actually start with the bees in 6 months.

One word of warning.
For me personally, I find that I obsess over certain things for a while but once I actually get it sometimes I lose interest in it.
So if that is a concern for you, you may want to give it a few months to settle in your mind before putting to much money into it.

OK, that is very random, but don't worry because I have an obsession with moths. I collect them in a small box at night time. I put an extremely bright lamp next to my window and I open my window so that they can come in. Then I put a night-light in a plug socket, so that the moths can flutter near that when I go to sleep, because I'm so frightened of them getting caught up in dust or cobwebs that magically occur in my room, no matter how many times a week I dust. Damn spiders!! !

Moths are so easy to collect, because they are the only insects that don't harm you, and also don't fly away when you try to grab them.

I cry if a moth dies, because it's like they are my pets.
