Night time manifests many emotions for me, and it's bittersweet.
The hard thing about night time is that it's lonely; I don't have friends in real life as such in a consistent way... there's only one person I can phone up and meet up with. Online I do have a few friends but not really on an easy to access site like yahoo messenger or msn messenger for example.

I feel a lot of pride about trying to make sure I become self reliable these days because it feels as though society is making me suffer a bit... I like how Tony Attwood says it (I haven't read any of his books, mind) "You don't suffer from Asperger's - you suffer from other people"
I'd say there's truth to be found in that... loneliness is such a strange presence though... there's no one to blame, not even myself... it's just surreal and odd, yet powerful. I don't think it's necessarilly simple especially when taking so many things into account, but I definitely try hard to think that Asperger's is something I don't suffer from... I really want to use the good aspects, and consistently... I don't believe I "suffer" from Asperger's, but I don't find it easy.

I guess I'm doing well this year, but I would like to have fun as a given right during my days that shouldn't be something that is hard to find.

I can definitely relate. Night time is my most depressing time of the day because it reminds me of just how all alone I really am. I can't sleep because my mind doesn't let me and I have no one to talk to.

night time has always been the hardest for me. I grew up with a large family of NT's and I got used to being surrounded by people I feel safe with and trust. I get overwhelming feelings of loneliness and desperation. I'm left completely alone with my thoughts and it's aweful. Hardest part of the day by far.

When I was in my late teens and really early 20's (back before the internet), I had met some people to hang out with at night. I met them through friends, but they hung out at this particular park. I found out while hanging out there, that if you start coming around to the same place every night, that has a group of regulars who hang out, you will be assimilated into the group. I saw lots of people do that, and after somebody was there for a few nights, others would go up and talk to them.

I used this strategy when I was 20 to start hanging out with a group in this parking lot near where I worked.

I don't know if culture is the same as it was in the 80's, but you can use this method modified for today. What I did was, (remember, this was the early 80's and an outside hangout) drive my car there and park it. Open the trunk and turn on some music, but not too loud, just loud enough to attract a little attention. Sit on the hood and drink a wine cooler and listen to my music.

Also, meeting a group to hang out with in a bar is pretty simple. Find a somewhat small bar that has the kind of music that you like. Go there during the week, later in the evening maybe about 10 or so. Always sit in the same spot and nurse a drink or two or even a coke if you don't drink. Bring a newspaper or magazine. Sit at the bar though, you will be left alone if you want to be. Notice the same groups that come in every night or almost every night. There will be those groups. After spending about three nights a week there for two or three weeks, find something to strike up a conversation about and go say hello. Just go introduce yourself. They have seen you there, they are regs there too and will say hello. Begin hanging out with them maybe one night a week and slowly get to be one of the crowd.
