I get genuinely scared of being intimate with people sometimes and was just wondering if this is a natural symptom of aspergers or if there is a maybe a deeper problem.

What exactly do you mean by intimacy? Physical, emotional, romantic, familial, etc?

I mean physically, romantically and emotionally. I get on well with my family but have trouble building relationships outside of that. Its like I get to a certain point with someone and then pull out of it for some reason, maybe I'm just over analyzing it.

The title of this thread suggests you may feel fear when intimacy is approached. Is it fear you feel? Or is the feeling disinterest in intimacy?

I believe I'm the same way. I've tried to be intimate or close but it takes me a very long time and it's pretty hard with the sensory issues (Aspie here). I think I know why people like us might feel this way though. We're probably used to hiding as not to be seen, judged, and ridiculed and eventually that grows into completely avoiding social or romantic attachments. Also, might have something to do with your relationship with your mother if you're a boy and your relationship with your father if you're a girl. Well.. a lot of factors, if you where raped at a young age. If you where abused as a child, etc.
