I have rubbish anxiety in the mornings, coupled with hypersensitivity for one reason or another. Well, today was the first day back at school after half term (a weeks break in the school term), and it was worse than ever.

Does anyone else have days when nothing in particular is wrong, but your day just keeps getting worse and worse until you aren't sure if the next person to speak to you is going to calm you down, csuse you to meltdown or just snap at them? I definitely did today (sigh). It's always much worse if I haven't been at school/wherever I'm going the day/week before, making Monday's worst by default. I have heard of aspies having Monday morning anxiety, but I don't know how common it is.

Just writing this here (not too sure of my purpose exactly) but I'm a bit burnt out today.

I definitely have difficulty with Mondays, but I also hate weekends--I find the shift in routines very awkward. My husband finds it mystifying that I seem to really break down on Sunday, just anticipating the Monday transition. Also, I will try to stay at work as late as I can on Friday because I am anxious about moving into the "unstructured" weekend.

One thing that does seem to help is to schedule something I like doing for days that are difficult. It's harder when you have to be at school, because you might not have time for a fun activity to start your morning, but you might begin by wearing your favorite outfit, eating your favorite breakfast, or listening to your favorite music. You might also plan to do your favorite activity--or something really special--once your classes are over: go to a movie, bike ride, whatever. If you can do this, I've found it helps tremendously to take my mind away from the anxiety and focus on a ritual that is appealing. It doesn't always work, but it generally keeps me balanced.

Here's a little something for those of you who despise Mondays.

Yaay! I'm not the only freak who hates the weekend. :D
