I can't tell you to stop feeling depressed----but I can tell you there's much good which should detract you from your depression.

My mother doesn't think she told me she didn't want me to have children and that I would be a terrible father even though I have memories of her saying these things.

My mother told me once that I'd be a terrible dad.

I'm not upset about that. She was probably right at that time.

Though I think I would be better now than when she told me this.

Perhaps she doesn't remember saying it, because it wasn't meant to be serious comment. OR at the time it is what she felt...and now no longer feels that way?

She used to pressure me into getting a vasectomy because she had this paranoid idea I would go to college and get a potential sex partner pregnant. Her fear was completely unfounded but not because I didn't want to not have sex but I was considered ugly by the opposite sex.
