I'm saying this cause I just had a conversation about this to somebody here. MINDSIGH, you can back me up on this. Now me and my friend went to the dope cooks house cause she wanted to. Now I just love him! He's the countriest Motherf***er ever. So we was sitting in his house and he used yam and sweet tater interchagebly. No. They are not. We got into it bout them taters. He's Larry the Cable Guy for real. Cept fatter and countrier. Yeah yams aint sweet taters I dont care what you say! And they aint!



I actually used the word N'AINT! We got way into it arguemtwise. I wont though, cause I'm right. Yams is white inside sweet tates is yella.

They are two different things,but there are sweet potato varieties that have yam in the name,such as Georgia yam,Pumpkin yam,Red yam,and white yam.
SandHill Preservation Center has a heritage sweet potato project,they have at least a hundred varieties.Some sweet potatoes are white,White Hayman is one variety.
If you look at the ingredients on a can of "yams",it will say sweet potatoes.
