It's like, I have no, faith is it?, in people. From the hack books of Gresh and Weinberg, to the Scientific American article on Watchmen where the institution suddenly goes into a frenzy of bias and stereotypes of science and movies, and the comments on that where it's all reinforced into "Its a movie" and "If there's a way to sneak science into science fiction", to people on this forum site who a while back launched into a feedback loop over why they hated the dark Knight films and that they are great (I won't name names due to the possibility I name the wrong people who are innocent), to a society that tells me all the time to "enjoy" stuff yet I can never understand or stand what they're saying (it's like they see what is not there, or something), to my own regression into a monster who has nothing at all and wants to destroy everything wrong, my complete failure as a whatever in a world that's lost all its magic, its knowledge, and I've lost my sanity. I don't have any questions, just an outlet. (The offending page, by the way. http://www.scientificamerican.com/artic ... s-watchmen )

I think you are a victim of over-analysis

Sometimes you just need to switch your brain off

Yes the world is a horrible place and there's a lot wrong with it but you don't have to always be
thinking about this - you can choose to focus on other things eg looking at nature, rating nice food, reading good books, watching films and TV ie there are a lot of compensatory activities you can do to make yourself feel better

Easy for you to say, you don't have the things that I've got, plus all you've said sounds vague and undefined, like it's as easy as flipping a switch.

What do you mean the things that you've got? Do you mean conditions or illnesses?

Trying to stop thinking about the things that make you agitated and unhappy and focusing instead on doing things you enjoy is pretty well defined I think(?)

It's certainly not easy - it gets easier with practice though.

Sorry, that all came out wrong. What I meant is that I've attempted to shut off my brain, but it's just always on, and also it's not as simple as just stop thinking about agitating stuff, it takes over, begins to define things and take away so much from life, because no matter what, they're always there. And I always analyze, don't you?(I was diagnosed with obsessive and anxiety symptoms once, though).

Medication can help. I ruminate far less when on anti-depressants - I'm on Efexor 75mg and if you want the ultimate in not thinking/worrying, try Valium (but not for more than a week or so as it's easy to get addicted).

To nessa238, I'm sorry about some things I said earlier, I thank you for the advice but feel it might not be exactly suited to my own life, but I really appreciate that you spent time writing to help me.
