I never know when I am being selfish. :( It would really help to know since I am very fussy about buying things. When I buy something I will hold out until I find exactly what I want. I will not buy a substitute because my attitude is that perhaps tomorrow or the next day I will find what I am looking for.

Now that I have told you this I can go on to the reason for posting this message. I finally realized that the problems I have been having with my computer was because the monitor died. This is the link discussing the problem http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt209132.html.

On Tuesday I went to Best Buy with the lovely slightly younger man that I live with to buy me a new monitor since I moaned and groaned earlier that I just couldn't use the one I had anymore. According to what I read recently the monitor was flittering. As well as losing color. The whole thing was driving me crazy!

When I told him that I didn't want what was available at the store he let me know that he had done something that would prevent me from using the monitor I had at home and we needed to buy a new one right there and then. I am not able to basically do anything, especially make any type of decisions, at all when my stomach is screaming out for FOOD! I do not shop on an empty stomach. Since I was absolutely starving I went along with him and decided on a monitor that I definitely would not have wanted under different circumstances. :x

I would like very much if we could return this monitor to Best Buy. :D Is it reasonable to do this so that I can have what I want and not have something just because it was convenient at the moment? The store will take it back. I really need to know if this action is being self centered and selfish. I can never understand that if someone owns only ONE of a particular object why should they settle for a something they do not want. Now I remember that is the reason I wanted to pay for the thing myself and not receive it as a gift. If I pay for it I can get exactly what I want without having to be concerned with hurting someone's feelings. :(

I also need to know if it is true that LED will prevent a glare on the screen and LCD will not. Vitally important info since I can't find the monitor that I want (1280x1024 resolution) that is LED under $140.

Once again those emoticons have helped me explain precisely how I feel. :D

The only thing worse than wanting stuff is not telling people how are they doing. That happen to me.

What you describe above does not seem like selfishness to me. It is your computer and you want it to work for you. If you had been at a store to buy a monitor for someone else and then YOU insisted that they buy one they really did not like just for your convinence, that would be selfish. Which is kind of like what the person you went to the store with did to you. So I'd say, he is the one who was selfish in this situation. IMHO.

Who's going to get hurt by you returning a monitor? Remember that corporations are nothing more than soulless entities (best buy is no exception) that aren't deserving of empathy. At the very least the only person you'll inconvience is the clerk that has log the return (and he's getting paid for that.)

I'm not seeing how you're being selfish in the slightest. :)

Thanks guys. The reason for writing the message was just to validate my opinion. This is quite unexpected. 8O :?:
