We're going to spend Christmas at some holiday resort this year (mother, sister, myself) and I'm actually not feeling great about it. I'm obviously taking my laptop and some books and planning to spend most of my time indoors on the net, because the thought of even having to deal with just my family is getting on my nerves.. what more a whole resort full of people... ugh. Anyone else going through this dilemma? How are you planning to cope? Am also taking some weights. I wanted to take my Xbox, but as I'm already taking my whole laptop set-up (and monitor - I am a translator so I like having two screens), I think it's a bit impractical for two days. Hopefully I end up getting work and then I can tune everything out.

I don't think your mother and sister will appreciate it you sitting behind your laptop for these two days. Why don't you play some boardgames or card with them. Read a book and discuss it together. Go for a walk with them. Play chess. Not the whole day of course. Spend 50% of the day with your mother and sister and keep the rest of the time for yourself.

We don't have similar interests - and we don't play games together. My sister plays chess, but she wants to be outside at the pool the whole time. They will probably be out of the room the whole time anyway.
