Not sure if this is allowed, but I'm curious...I'm thinking of either leaving or starting a new screen name with a new online personality. I was on here when I was going through a period of depression and think I talked like an a**hole sometimes, which is not my real personality.

I sometimes feel like I'm a bit of an a**hole IRL, too. It's not the spectrum that causes it, but could it be anger/frustration related to extreme NVLD, or just a lame excuse?

I also feel like I am pro-feminist in my ideas to an extent that likely pisses off the considerable men's rights contingent in the aspie community but sometimes sexist in the way I say things, which pisses off feminists, drawing the ire of both men and women. lol

Ha.

I find that hilarious.

But ok. I suppose thank you is in order. Thank you. I agree about you as well. By the way, why the name Tyri0n? Any reference to King Tyrion in the Last Battle by C.S. Lewis?

Close, but actually from Game of Thrones. :-). I like C.S. Lewis too though!

Eh. C.S. Lewis is ok. Tolkien is more preferable to me - favorite author of mine.

<--- Couldn't get through any of Tolkien's books even with a gun to his throat. Is fascinated by the movie adaptations, though.

Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day to all!

I find the "Should have been diagnosed LFA" option very offensive, as it implies that Low-Functioning Autistics are lesser beings in comparison to the High-Functioning. It stinks of elitism.

As for you, Tyri0n, I disagree with many of your opinions, as I expect many people do, but that's no reason to leave. Please stay and share your views.

About all the NT votes:

A lot of my diagnosis was based on childhood history. I arrived at nearly all the childhood milestones late. I had a lot of autistic symptoms as a child but fewer and fewer as the years go by. Even my interests have gotten less intense. Being in the military and being forced to adapt to a hostile foreign culture may have had something to do with me becoming more "NT."

I've sometimes wondered if my diagnosis was based on the assumption that children with autism do not outgrow it, ever, or if my autistic symptoms as a child were due to environmental, not congenital factors. Maybe the permanency of autism is an incorrect assumption, so I struggle with whether to identify as being on the spectrum or not. I definitely don't seem like the autistic and aspie people I've met.

I have serious social adjustment, identity, and personality issues, but many of these are not directly related to autism. Everything is, in fact, more consistent with NVLD without ASD and perhaps some schizoid personality and depression. But I went to an NVLD specialist who refused to overturn my ASD diagnosis, even after I pointed out the absence of typical autistic behaviors in my diagnostic report.

So I really don't know myself. Is there even a useful difference between NVLD and Asperger's, or can NVLD + schizoid personality traits = Asperger's? No idea whatsoever. So not sure if I belong here or not, or if I'm too "NT." Am I an autistic person who made great progress, or an NT who had minor issues but was too lazy/dumb to overcome them?

I don't know you but I voted cool because Tyrion is one of my favorite characters in game of thrones. :P

I have no problem with you.
I wouldn't worry about what other people think about your opinions.
It would be really boring if we all thought the same.

I voted interesting. You have some really refreshing opinions, though I don't agree with you 100% of the time. Don't go, man. :B

No, you're cool; I don't think you need to leave.
I don't see you as sexist, either.
