A few months ago I began to lose an interest, it waxed and wained and I didn't know how to deal with it since sometimes it meant a lot to me and others I didn't even think about it. It got me really confused and anxious and so I cut myself off from that interest totally and made myself scared of thinking about it or doing anything conected.
I made myself really down and ill.
Now it's happening again! I'm sort of slipping in and out of the interest and I never know what to think or feel or do! I really need help to stop me going totally mad again! Please help I really am desperate to sort this out.

Not really sure how to help here. You can't make yourself be interested in a thing or NOT interested in a thing. Your anxiety comes from the need you have that the interest filled before, but no longer does. So, what did your interest do for you that you need done, and what else besides that interest could do that?

Well you could just be growing out of your interest. If you are, I wouldn't worry too much about it. It is natural to grow out of interests. You will find a new one eventually. And I am sure you will always have fond memories of your old interests.

However it is often said that a symptom of depression is losing interest in things you used to find enjoyable, have you considered that you might be depressed?

Just find something else you find interesting. As you learn more and more about the world, things tend to get boring and you seek more advanced subjects.
