there are some really malicious and scummy people in this earth. I'm sorry if I'm dumping this crap here, but this is the only place people will understand me. I am dealing with hyperacusis which I'm going next week to see an otolaryngologist for, but I am dealing with a neighbor's car alarm that beeps in my window at any time during the day and which is terrorizing me!! I have told him and he knows what this is doing and doesn't fix the stupid alarm, and doesn't want to park somewhere else!! I really hate this, I can't go around wearing earplugs all the time because it only makes things louder!!

I feel you.

I had 5 shutdowns last week where I couldn't speak or move because of sensory overstimulation, mostly because of over-sensitive hearing.

It can make you really angry. Is there a quiet place that you can retreat to daily, even away from home, until you find a solution? And, by the way, I wear earplugs/earbuds day and night....it's become a way of life. Sure, it sucks, but what can you do? NO one cares who doesn't get sound sensitivity....they just don't hear the level of detail that we hear, and it doesn't hurt them like it hurts us.

I understand how you feel.

I jump through the roof every time my phone rings due to calls, messages, or text's.

I understand. I wear ear plugs frequently in public and private. I cannot wear them at work and this make t a living nightmare sometimes. Because other people do not feel the pain they do not really understand and instead think that we are exaggerating what we feel. I say wear earplugs every where.

Wow, thank you it does help having some support. I hadn't been here in a while but I had forgotten how much support I'd get here. It's true, people are clueless about sensory issues. I alternate between headphones, earplugs and earbuds almost 24/7 now too... sometimes me ears get sore and I feel so disconnected sometimes.

Yea, I'm the same way. I've quit using the ringer on my phone a while ago for the same reason. Silent is the only way I'll keep a cellphone... I know it bugs some people but I'd rather miss a call, and have to call them back than deal with the anxiety I get from hearing a ringer.

I'm starting to wear them outside the house more often too. I can't imagine working somewhere noisy...can you maybe have some white noise, somewhere around? I know it does interfere with hearing things clearly, but the muffling it does is very helpful in some occasions.

The music is a great idea and your vid is cool!My problem is I will get so into the music I could step into an open man hole or step out into traffic, I got hit by a car once when I was excited and not paying attention. It's embarrassing, and if I hear a loud noise I may jump and cuss like a sailor  I have never once used the horn on my car, aaahhhh,I hate car horns.
