A friend of my younger son is going to be staying with us for a while. He's been here for a couple of weeks now, sleeping on the couch in the den and we told him he could stay as long as he needs to. He doesn't get on my nerves and he gets along with everybody here, but today when his brother brought over the rest of his clothes I realized that he could be here for quite a while.

My son will be 18 this month and this boy is 23. They have been friends for several years and I know him and his whole family. He is the younger brother of the guy who owned the liqour store here in town. He used to work there, as did my son and another friend of theirs. He has a job at a store and doesn't cost us any money to let him stay here except what he eats, and we have always had kids friends coming over and eating here, just like ours do at their friends houses, so that isn't a new expense.

He's pretty immature for a 23 year old. My oldest is 23 and has a job and an almost 3yo baby and that crazy baby mama that he supports. This guy has a 4yo baby that he rarely sees and has nothing to do with the baby mama. He used to live with his older brother and his wife and kids but now that they have two there just wasn't enough room and we have plenty of room. When he's not working he really just sits around in my sons room and they play video games or they go to another friends house and they hang out there. I'd rather he save his money so he can get his own place instead of paying us rent, but I hope he doesn't end up blowing his paycheck on games and stuff instead of putting some back. I may make him give me a certain amount a week to hold for him until he has enough to move out.

We have had kids stay with us before, many times. We had one friend of my older daughters live with us for about 3 years. My daughters fiance has been living here for about 4 years now, and my oldest son always had some friend or other who was having problems at home and needed a place to stay for a while, back when he was still living at home. For the most part, the kids who stay here are good kids and don't get in the way or on my nerves. This one is no different. The only thing that bothers me is that he sleeps in the den or in the livingroom because my son only has one bed in his room. Maybe I'll suggest that he buy a futon or something and sleep in there. They both keep the same "vampire hours" anyway, usually.

So, now there are 7 of us here.
