First of all, sorry for being away for a while, but I had to come back to ask your advice on this matter. For the last couple of evenings, I have snapped at my Dad during the dinner hour, and I feel as though this could be a sign of something worse. To be honest, I don't know what spurred these events, and neither does my mom. What do you think?

Apologize...

Do some soul searching.

As long as you still love your mother, there is hope. Try talking to her; she may help you see the problem.

Well, we typically "snap" at the people we love (parents, spouses, partners, etc) because we feel safe to do so. Maybe it's not an issue of "dad" but an issue around what it is you're frustrated about. Dig deeper beyond the actual events that took place.

I don't live with my parents. I left home over 25 years ago, however, I do have daily contact with them and find I "snap" at my Dad. He is 76 and has neurological degeneration. I find it difficult to cope with. He tells me the same story or switches off when talking to me. It's very difficult :(
