OK so Ole Boy calls me tonight all in a little uproar. It's been a TERRIBLE day! The people at work were mean (he's a f*****g Taliban killing soldier and he's bitching about rudeness!) and then when he came home, well the most horrible thing happened.

OK, get this. I'm totally for real here. Really. And no, I don't believe it really happened.

An ADT alarm system van pulls up and parks in his yard. On the grass, just as he's getting home. They get out and one goes left and the other goes right and they go behind his house in all that land he's got there and they disappear. For hours. His dog informed him (not in words thank God!) that they weren't human! They were SPACE ALIENS!

Now me and my son had been at Wal Mart (which he lives right behind) earlier and seen his son there laughing his butt off buying canned dog food. My son said what you doing? His son said "Buying the dog a treat cause my dad's g*ddamn crazy". Neither of us thought anything about it and when he called tonight I was shocked. I said "Well are they still there?" he said no he doesn't know where they went but they left after a few hours. OK.

Then he wanted to talk to my husband. My husband had a great time talking to him about space aliens and the trees at toomers corner and why they would both like to do certain things to my best friend in her b*tt. Then I get the phone back. He's worried they are gonna get him. The space aliens. Really?

F*cking really? This is exactly what I said "Well honey I'm honestly not trying to be mean or ugly or nothing here but I really think you should talk to your psychiatrist about this. You may need to get your crazy pills adjusted or it could just be important for him to write it down in case they kidnap you or something but for real, tell him about this. Cause this sh*t just ain't normal and you know it on some level."

I'm unsure if he's taking his crazy pills or not. I know he did go buy another gun. They took all of them away after he shot at his kids that time with the assault rifle and told him not to get no more of them but dumb*ss goes out and buys a freaking shotgun. I guess he's gonna shoot at the space aliens. I told him I doubt that human ammo would hurt them so he should try something like holy water.

He's freaking crazy.

<Checks Calendar>

Since April 1st was three weeks ago, I think it's safe to assume that someone may be behaving just a wee bit irrationally.

No, not you, Olive.

You may want to keep your distance from "Ole Boy" until things settle down a bit.

Oh, I know he's crazy. I'm not afraid of him or anything, but I really wish he'd tell his shrink that he sees space aliens. I mean, I don't think that's exactly normal. Part of me wants to get a thorazine and say "Sweetie here take this and get in the car" and then drive him up to the state insane asylum so they can fix him. he's as smart as he can be, but he's just gone absolutely nuts now. He's a perfect friend for me, even without all THAT. We once had an argument about the Hadrin collider and conspiracy theories that made us unfriend each other and not speak for months. He was on the crazy conspiracy theory side and I was not. He did not like being called crazy so I did not do so tonight.

As much as I would love to think Aliens are on our planet mingling with us and figuring out how we tick without being invasive. I doubt such an intelligent being would pose as an ADT employee xD. Man needs a brain probing!

I'm using his crazy and paranoia for good at the moment. I want him to find out why two brothers from YEMEN would move to BRENT ALABAMA and open a liquor store. This has got to be a front for some kind of terrorist activity or they are the two stupidest businessmen in that part of the world!

I put old boy on it. He's crazy and has military connections.

If your friend has some kind of mental instability and has already used a gun to shoot at his children, surely you have a duty to report him for getting another gun.

I ain't got a duty to do jack s**t. I do understand why he shot at that particular GROWN son and I've wanted to shoot at every male in that family before. What's he gonna do with a shotgun? Shoot some fake ADT guy from Utah?

I'm worried about him, not some kind of pretend duty or something. Some of our cops are even crazier!

Well I fail to see how it can be safe for a person who has evidently lost touch with reality to have ownership of a gun, expecially if he's used it on his own family before now. The age of his son is irrelevant as well - shooting someone is against the law.
If he had the gun(s) taken off him before, is he legally allowed to own any more?

Common sense alone would dictate that it's not a good idea.

and if a person is acting in an unpredictable manner how on earth can you know what he's likely to do?

If it was my friend I'd be alerting the authorities re his owning that gun before he harms himself or someone else

has he been diagnosed with any specific condition? what tablets does he take? is he taking them?

Oh he was in the war a bunch. In the Gulf, both times. He came back with shellshock, that's all. He's really allright most of the time and you can tell when he gets "that way" so you just leave him alone.

I mean I'm worried a little about the gun thing, but not as much as the space aliens thing. That is what really worries me. When he goes nuts with a gun it doesn't last long and usually by that time his aim sucks anyway. He's never actually shot anybody when it wasn't war. He just gets a little funny sometimes. It happens when men go to war. Nobody expects any different. I'm really concerned about him thinking he saw space aliens.

Well all I can say is that you have a lot more faith in him than I would given the circumstances

He's a lot better today. People are only scary if you are scared of them. He's a sweet boy with just a good bit of mental problems. It's not that difficult to talk to crazy people, once you know they are crazy. Or if you are used to them.

I swear that I've heard so many people not from where I'm from freak out over things that a whole lot of us down here just take for granted. Crazy people are accepted and just "peculiar" and we just deal with all of it.

I've got no prejudice against people with mental health problems as I have them myself. It is the fact he has a gun that I am saying is a cause for concern. As you say, you are used to all this but the mother of the Sandy Hook killer probably felt the same way ie blase about it all and it didn't do her a lot of good did it?

Do you have Asperger's Syndrome yourself?

If so, why are you putting people with other neuro-diverse conditions into a 'crazy people' category?

I don't have any prejudice against people with mental problems either, I have depression. I also have AS and I used to have panic disorder and agoraphobia.

He's had guns all his life and only had one problem with them one time. I don't think he's any kind of Sandy Hook potential here.

So because I have AS I can't recognize that your dog telling you space aliens are in your yard is crazy? Who is allowed to recognize what exactly crazy is? Is crazy going to be another word that people aren't allowed to say now? Even with aliens and communicating dogs?

But there's a clear contradiction in you thinking your friend is 'crazy' and not being concerned about him owning a gun!

What is your definition of 'crazy'? a person not in control? a person liable to do unpredictable things?

Why bother coming on this board and telling us about your friend's 'craziness' at all if it's of no concern to you?

you aren't acting in a logical manner in my opinion

My advice would be to ask if he's taking his medication and notify the mental health service who he sees of his current state of mind and that he has a gun

Which organisation took the gun off him before? the police?

in which case I'd notify them that he's got another one

If it were me, I'd want to make sure I did all I could to help the person by notifying the relevant authorities of the risk so as to have a clear conscience if anything bad happened

I'm not you though so it's your choice

His only problem with the guns he had before was because a lot of alcohol was involved, all the guys there were drunk, and it did not turn out well. Plus, he didn't shoot AT anybody, which isn't to say he couldn't have accidentally hit somebody but he's a pretty good shot and he just shot over their heads. I heard about it from people who were there and nobody was mad at each other the next day when they sobered up. I'm not excusing the behavior, I'm just saying that I don't think he's going to shoot at somebody in his yard, he has the gun in case the "space aliens" break in his house or something.

I post about it because I just post about things that get weird or upset me or concern me. I'm not upset about his having the gun per se, I'm upset that he believed in this space alien business so much that he actually went out and bought one. This is a shot gun, what he shot before was an assault rifle.

I'm concerned for his mental health. I don't think he's going to hurt anybody. I live in a town where about 90% of the population are armed to the teeth and I don't think half of them are sane and some are even downright loonier than him! If I worried about every nutcase with a gun around here I'd never get any rest. Plus, it's a different kind of crazy. Not the "go on a shooting rampage" type. Just the "real peculiar stay away when he's drinking" type.

Plus, he bought it here in town and in this town everybody knows everything that everybody else does within a day, so I'm sure if the cops were concerned they would go out there and get it. The focus of my worry is the fact he believed that space aliens were at his house because his dog told him. Not the gun.
