Over the past few days, I have been in a funk. I've been angry, lonely, and bored out of my skull, and I think that I realize why.
I, like a lot of other boys my age, live a largely sedentary life. I absorb, consume, collect. The only things that I produce come from the orifices in the lower half of my body, namely urine and feces, which are delivered directly to the pond within the toilet, never to be seen again. An individual cannot live by urinating and defecating alone; they need to produce and provide more, not just for themselves, but for others. Everyone is capable of producing and providing, whether they choose to realize it or not. I'm a fiction writer, yet over the years, my so-called perfectionism has provided me with plenty of "excuses" not to actually write something. After all, you can't judge non-existent writing by having Leonardo DiCaprio go into your dreams. It must be produced, and it must be provided.
Another thing that I've noticed about myself is that, in my desperation to get a girlfriend, I end up driving away candidates. First of all, misogyny is unhealthy. It is indicative of a lack of desire for self-improvement. Theodore Millon identified a handful of subtypes of depression, one of them being "voguish depression", where the depressives see unhappiness and misery as a means of getting what they want.
News flash: It ain't happening.
Produce and provide. That's the only way you're going to be able to help yourself.

Yes, I'm still alive.
I write short stories and poems all the time and occasionally send them off for publishing consideration. Technically, I don't have to do that because I have my own blog and I'm free to publish my own works till the cpws come home. Still, I send them off in the hope someone will pat me on the back and say, "Hey, you can write!" Also, these literary magazines have a much bigger audience than my blog which is new anyway.
Now, all I have to deal with is my pesky host, Blog.com. They keep going down all the time! Arrgghh!
