Hi everyone,

I've been feeling a bit lost lately. One of my special interests has always been the subject of productivity. I have been reading about the best methods, time savers, apps, notebooks etc. for as long as I can remember. It used to be something fun, but I ended up being totally stuck in analysis paralysis (not deciding on a certain method because there might be other methods). Two weeks ago, I decided to quit reading Lifehacker and other blogs on the subject.

For the first few days, it felt quite liberating not having to think about a system but using one that just came naturally instead. However, two weeks on, I'm incredibly nervous and a little paranoid because I feel I don't have a strong enough grip on my tasks and such. My urge is to go right back to lifehacking and look for the best method or app or thing that can help me, but I know that won't solve my problem.

I'm a freelancer and while no damage has been done yet to any of projects, I'm beginning to feel the stress impact my health, sleep and peace of mind.

Can you relate to this? Do you have any tips?

Any help is welcome, thank you!

(I get this all the time - nobody seems to even know it exists!)

Haha, lifehacking is the practise of coming up with ways to adjust aspects of your life to make them fit with your needs. For example, on lifehacker.com, there might be tips about how to create a good time management workflow, or how to make your house winter proof.

Sadly, the difficulty is: it seems that most people are trying to find answers to their problems by using other people's problems as a template for their own, which might not necessarily be the same problem.

It might sound a bit silly, but I've been so involved in it (and know about so many systems and methods) that I don't know how to even start a task anymore. I'm thinking about setting up a system more suitable for kids with Asperger's.

No mindset can be adhered to against the onslaught of time, and the quest for efficiency is a machine designed to break down. You must stop looking at the horizon so that your feet stay firmly planted on the ground.
