I work in the clothing department of a suerpmarket and I've messed up slightly because I'm still learning the unwritten rules. Fortunatly, I haven't hurt anyone but myself, but I still feel upset that companies seem to have two faces.
On the one hand, this supermarket claims to be a "great place to work" and in most ways it is. Lots of colleugue benefits and so on. But, those things just help me to forget that it is a multi-million pound company and business and will be run as one.
I feel so stupid and tricked. Why can't there be a handbook guide to all of this?

A handbook guide to 'doublethink'? Not likely.

Doublethink is pretty much present in every job. Sadly.

Sounds like you're an honest person, and the more honest you are, the more irritating it must be.
