At public gatherings where attendees aren't required to sit, I tend to just eat and pace around the room. Does anyone have tips on how to engage in small talk?

have you not before met anybody who shared similar interests? if you have, had you not at least exchanged a few words on your mutual fave subject/s?

I don't really have any friends; the closest thing I had to friends in recent memory was a support group I attended in college for credit, and even then, I haven't spoken with my classmates since the last class session. I'm not very outgoing or sociable, so I don't like talking to other people, partly because I won't think we have common interests. I'm also too shy to find and talk to other people who seem to like what I like; joining this website to post these comments is a big step for me.
