I can't believe this. I just finished writing the blurb for Bonnie's blog, reminiscing about the events that caused us to be where we are, and the love we have been learning through it all, feeling pretty good about myself. then I check my email.

I am a member of a guild of technicians and I might not be able to pay my dues this year, which will cause me to lose my membership. They are having a Christmas dinner on the 17th and I had to rsvp so I sent a note that I couldn't afford it this year. Got a private response from a member offering to pay for the dinner for my wife and me. I responded back with a thanks, explaining that we can't afford unnecessary trips since I lost my part time job and how frustrating it is for me but thanked him anyways.

He responded back with this:

Quote:
I thought of reporting you to somebody, I'm worried about you!! !

talk about a mood crasher. That took me from happy memories and feelings to instant stressed to the max. Why would someone want to report a person simply because s/he is stressed about income? This irresponsible flippant reaction could ruin a person's life!

PS.
On an unrelated note. The uk audience appears to be losing interest in Bonnie's Blog. how can I keep it interesting while sticking to the facts the best possible?

That's weird. Is it a still violation to be stressed out and not afford any trips and going to dinner? That would be you better not have s**t happen and you lose your job.

Maybe he misspoke himself. Maybe he meant "enquire after you". That's what people are supposed to do when they are concerned.

No, he said what he meant. I sent an email asking him why he would report me and his response "you sound so depressed". How he arrived at that I don't know, but I will just have to be far more careful who I respond to. Next time invites me to do something that will involve an expense that I cannot afford I'll just say "no thanks, can't make it this time." and not give any explanations.

I was hoping some of the other technicians would send me their overflow work that usually happens around this time of year was the only reason I mentioned "can't afford it" to begin with.

He called while I was outside, left a message saying he was "only kidding". I guess I fail to see how that is joking. I try to understand humor but that doesn't sound funny to me. I guess I am totally clueless.

Sorry you had to learn a "social skill" the hard way. Most NT's in your situation would reply like you will the next time or say they had a previous engagement they can't get out of.

I hope you do better financially.
