Sorry if this the umpteenth time I've posted this, but I feel a bit pessimistic about finding love right now. What has happened to me (and what has gotten me bad luck socially):

1) Called Ariel, she texted me back with "I'm. At. Work." Seems like she's mad at me. My social skills are THAT poor, I don't think I can have a GF or a wife (nor can I work on my social skills that well). :(

2) Isolation. I live in a small town, and am too desolate to go anywhere; although I sometimes get out at times, I can never go farther than a 30-mile radius of where I am ATM. That is something I am working on.

3) Homer Simpson syndrome. Yes, I am Homer Simpson-like in my mind at times (and before you say he is well-liked, he has actually gotten in trouble on occasion for his actions- case in point, The Simpsons Movie). No, seriously. I tend to be lazy and incompetent at times; although many would like to think that I am smarter than him, there are instances where I can be like him. We all kind of go through these things, but I tend to have it worse than others.

4) The 413 factor. I was born April 13th, and the two numbers associated with said date are considered unlucky (4 in Asian cultures, 13 in Western cultures). A lot of bad things have happened in the ensuing days, like the Virginia Tech attack (4/16/2007), the Oklahoma City bombing (4/19/1995) and, more recently, the Boston Marathon bombing (4/15/2013). Sometimes I wonder if I am a poison on the world because of it……..

Guys......... I am beginning to think I will take myself off the market and make myself unavailable to ANY girl. What do I do? :( Have a heart before you post, however, and don't post anything degrading to me.

No you're not cursed, you are just stuck in a situation alone and need to figure out how to fix it.

As for the birthday thing, mine is 4/20. Hitler's birthday, Columbine. It's also slang for weed, which freaks me out if I try to smoke it. Your birthday didn't curse you, I promise. I know about curses too, so don't worry about that.

Thank you for that comforting post. *sigh* Why do I always screw up? :(

Everybody screws up. I do, too. I received a package from a financial institution a few months ago saying I had an IRA account. I largely ignored it because I know very little about these things and how they work.

Today, for whatever reason, I gave the financial institution a call. They told me that the IRA in my account, from a company I used to work for, can be converted to hard green cash! So, needing the money, I set the wheels turning to receive the money. It's not a large amount but I should be receiving it in about two weeks. It'll help a lot with my current and future bills.

You're only 26, E2LA. Like I've said before, I know a guy who didn't meet the love of his life till he was 31. They have a kid now. He's 35 years old. The rock singer Bryan Adams didn't have his first kid till he was 51. Believe me, you have lots of time. I see people on OKCupid looking for love who are in their 30's, 40's, 50's and beyond.

1. Does she have predictable work hours? Don't call during said hours.
There, you learned a new social skill. :)

4. Superstition is nonsense IMO.

I think it would be an idea to dump this one.

All you are saying is that sometimes bad things happen in april...

Numbers and dates, like statistics, can be made to mean anything you like; don't make it "truth".

In japanese the number 4 is unlucky simply because the number 4 - "shi" - is the same as the root of "shinu", the japanese verb for death. The japanese word for 7 - "shichi" - is also maligned. So one learns words like yon (4) and nana (7) to avoid the negative connotations. Er, why?

I don't know why 13 is unlucky in english though it is interesting to note that 1 + 3 = 4!! Deeply meaningful, or spectacularly irrelevant?

I think we can probably play these number games in any culture, any language; don't make it "truth".

1. Sort of; she rarely talks to me because she says she doesn't bring her phone to work.

Like many Aspies you seem to have a all or nothing (black and white) skew on things. It doesn't make sense if one has a problem getting a gf at this moment, to say 'thats it, I'm never going to have one.' There is also such a thing as trying too hard. Sometimes you have to give it a bit of a break and give yourself time to figure out what wasn't working and come up with a better approach to it. Its trial and error, absorbing lessons learned.

I don't really ascribe any true meaning to numbers and other forms of superstitions. The main problem is they are literally never scientifically proveable. They are like the old luck Rabbit Foot charms. Why would you think it can be of any use? The Rabbit sure didn't have any luck with it. But I can sometimes follow along in a casual way, mainly as a moral booster or mental game perhaps. Not really harmful if you take it not as something literal to bank on. For instance putting all your money on your lucky number in a horse race. Maybe a minimum bet, but not everything, cause realistically chances are you'll lose it.

I am sorry that I don't have any advice for you, but I hope things work out and start looking up for you. If it makes you feel any better, April is my favorite month and 13 is my lucky number...so I wish I had your birthday. :D

I thank everyone who's supported me in the year that I've been here. You make me feel better in many ways, and I mean it in a good way. Cheers to you all. :D

I've been feeling pretty unlucky myself, but lavender oil on the back of my neck has been helping. Maybe give that a shot?

It's supposed to help protect you from negative influences. You need to get the oil right on the base of your skull. Leaves your hair feeling nice and soft too :)

Ariel and I are back on good terms again. It was just a temporary lapse.

I also have a "cursed" birthday. Mine is November 27, which I share with Bruce Lee and Jimi Hendrix, two celebrities who died untimely deaths. Jimi overdosed, while the circumstances surrounding Bruce's death are mysterious, some say he died as a result of a Chinese curse. Also, his son Brandon Lee died young as well. 8O 8O
