That sounds horrid, you'd think a womans shelter would be about helping the women not oppressing them and trying to control their life. Sounds like you certainly need to get out of that situation. If you did get committed to a decent facility, they could probably help...but yeah they are likely not going to accept you unless you're suicidal or a danger to others most likely.
