I have this thing about trying to think clearly with as many thoughts as possible and as fast as possible. After all, it is our thoughts that get us to where we are in life. The more thoughts we have in life and the higher the quality of those thoughts the further we go in life. We all have control over our lives and might as well make the most out of our lives. I am constantly trying to think as clearly as possible with as many thoughts as possible. I get frustrated at my inability to think clearly. I'm always trying to research ways to improve brain function, which I would probably be able to discuss with people here if anyone wants to learn about ways to improve brain function. I am constantly gurgling sounds in my head, trying to come up with sentences and think like an internal dialogue, but it seems to be more of a hindrance than something that helps me to think clearly. I don't think I have schziophrenia, although my father did which is a sign that I have asperger's syndrome. I feel that I need something really potent to help me think clearly such as DMT (which is the most powerful stimulant known to man) or transcranial direct current stimulation (TDCS). I have discussed get an TDCS with my mom, but she doesn't want me to have it and says that she will kick me out of the house if I buy one. Please help. Here is a video that I have made discussing how the brain is like a muscle to show my passion for the brain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suc2NOpGk4k[/youtube]

I have to disagree.

What we think is immaterial to how far we go in life.
It's what what we DO that matters.
In fact, to some large extent, that's all that really matters to other people.
What we think doesn't even enter into it for the most part.

Completely disagree. Thoughts have everything to do with where you end up in life because we have to have think something in order to do it. Whenever do you something it required that you think about it.

From someone who thinks too much, you're thinking too much. I understand where you're coming form, I really do but you need to stop thinking so much. Our thoughts do lead to decisions, so you're not doing anything wrong. Carefully thinking things thorugh ins't bad at all but as you know, by the fact you came here for help, it's hindering your ability to enjoy life. So something has to change.
You're brain is working just fine, you dont need to always think of ways to improve it. The fact that you are this concerned about it, mostly likely means you are already using your brain more than the average person. I'm not just saying that, either. Most poeple don't think anywhere near enough, you clearly do.. and then some. But if you dont find a way to slow down the thinking process or temporarily shut it off, just to give yourself a well deserved break, time refresh your mind. How you do that is up to you. What works for others may or may not work for you.

It's the doing that counts, though, not what you think about before, during, or after.
For the most part people could care less what you're thinking, they only care about what you do.

A frustrating state of affairs for aspies like me with executive function issues, but a great mind, but true nonetheless.
People don't really care about all my cool, interesting, insightful thoughts.
They just care about what I can actually do for them, however much or little thought that takes, and regardless of the content of that thought.

Since where we end up is largely dependant on what others think of us, actions are much more important than thoughts, imho.

I have the same kind of thing going on, and my brain can only go so far there before I must go act upon some of those thoughts to learn the truths of the matters (or the actual values of the thoughts) and to clear my mental accumulator to make room for more. So no matter what, mental gymnastics (which can at times amount to mental masturbation) can only take us so far and some action is required if we wish to ever make any actual progress.

building a tDCS device for 10$ is actually quite simple, I've done that. yet, the multimeter and solderng equipment and electrodes ran it all up to around 50.
Anyway, the effects are not what you are hoping for. It doesn't give you clarity of thought.
It can make it easier to memorize random data- I use it for japanese vocabulary (so many words are homophones, and so many sound almost the same, -that's what makes it so hard).
it can alleviate depression, and I use it for that as well.
and It can make you go into flow in an instant. I rarely do that, because, well... it makes you amazing at Stroop tests, and I assume at all other tasks that require IMMEDIATE attention. Video games. Target practice for snipers. Not really tasks I engage in in daily life.
However, I haven't really found a placement of electrodes on my head that will clear up the clutter. I don't think it can do that.

And as for your Idea of DMT: it's not a stimulant, it's a hallucinogen. It'll disconnect you from any sense of reality. your thoughts will, if at all, only make sense while you're on it. And actually, DMT trips are strangely hard to remember, they fade. And are also more colour-and pattern-based, than thought-based.
I think you'd rather want Modafinil or something from that catergory. Or maybe reconsider completely.

I found meditation quite a good way in times of chaotic thoughts. I can recommend yoga nidra.
