Nope, not when nobody ever makes an effort to help you make it out on your own and sort of forget to help you but likes to keep you in chains, even after you turn eighteen!
Even when I was twenty f*****g one I wasn't allowed to party or drink as much as I wanted! Nope I still got treated like a mother f*****g piece of s**t child at my Aunt's boyfriend's house! And despite being twenty two, I was still forced to go to work with my mother and step-dad when they worked at the amusement park in OKC and wasn't allowed to have any say so in the matter. This was right after I was kicked out of my Aunt's boyfriend's house.
Then I go to the group home near OKC and guess what ? Treated like a mother f*****g child! I pushed my Aunt's boyfriend too far one night because I got sick of the way I was being treated and winded up at my Dad's house all the way on the west coast after she abandoned me. Now my dad's doing the same exact thing to me as everyone else is doing.
Nobody EVER gave me the chance to learn about responsibilities, nobody EVER tried to make an effort to teach me how to live out on my own and this makes me realize something. I'M JUST A f*****g CASH COW WHO PEOPLE PUT UP WITH JUST BECAUSE I HAVE SSI

Here in Canuckleland you can drink legally at 19. I never did. I fail to see any pleasure in it. I don't mind other people drinking if they're responsible, but if someone tells you not to drink as much as you want then you're probably not doing it responsibly. And it's ironic how much you sounded like a screaming child with your F-bomb laced, repetitiveness-filled tantrum.

Thank you ... I now had my daily recommendation of irony and I admit that dropping the F-bombs was probably working against the whole message I was trying to convey and that I should had thought to myself "Gee maybe I'd been far off worse if I did do heavy drinking" while I was writing this.
The thing is, how can you be an adult when nobody gives you the chance to act like one ?
Imagine for one moment that you were in my shoes and that your mother and step dad never really gave a damn about you and sort of ignored you while your brothers were out getting their driving licenses and preparing for college and etc but you were just ignored and left alone.
If something similar like this has happened to you or anyone else here, then you'd know what's it's like to be neglected and abandoned because nobody understood you and see you more as a burden to them than some misunderstood teenager

I'm 20 years old, and I honestly think that I'm given too much freedom in some ways. I'm legally an adult, and as such I'm expected to act like one, when really I just feel like an overgrown teenager. I don't have a driver's license or a high school diploma though, so at least that frees me from some responsibility.
Also, despite the fact that I enjoy being able to buy my own beer or order a drink at a bar, drinking just seemed a LOT more fun when I was underage.

I relate somewhat. My parents(especially my mom) sometimes treat me like a child in different ways & then they complain about how I act like a child & not independent & on my own. I have physical disabilities in addition to Aspergers that really limit me with employment & living in a rural area not being able to drive forced me to stay more dependent on them. The way they try to teach me things is by pressuring, nagging, putting me down, or being overly criticle with how I'm doing something. They kind of felt that me being dependent on them at my age kind of gave them the rite to treat me like a kid sense they felt I could just magically get a job & become independent if I wanted to & put my mind to it. & they also felt that I was too old to still be dependent on them because others my age wouldn't still be dependent on their parents. I think they kind of hoped that by treating me like a kid in some negative ways I'd get frustrated enough to suddenly get a job & then move out. I'm doing aLOT better sense I moved in with my girlfriend about a year & a half ago. I'm still dependent in lots of ways including not having a job but I've been growing in lots of ways & feel alot better mentally.

Nobody ever gave me the chance either, so I told everyone to f**k off, went out and learned how to be responsible myself.
Other people can be really quite useless sometimes. I'd recommend just learning to do it on your own.
