Do you have specific clothes that you prefer? I have been wearing the same one pair of pant for about five years now. When I am home I just wear shorts and a Tshirt but whenever I go outside I always wear the same pair of pants. Yes I wash them, but they are the only pair of pants I own or even want to wear. I wear the same color shirt outside all the time also, but I have 3 shirts exactly the same for outside use. I've heard that Aspies are picky dressers, but am I extreme by Aspie standards?

I actually just happen to be wearing one of my favorite shirts right now, and I've had this thing for years but unfortunately I managed to rip a huge hole in one of the armpits just the other day. I don't wear it in public, but around the house it's comfortable as hell, and it just so happens to be made of a warmer fabric than most T-shirts. It has a rather unique pattern too, with differently colored sections separated by seams.

I also once had a super comfy pair of tan jeans that I ripped holes in the knees of, and I kept wearing them like this until one day, my dad's mother in law decided to turn them into cutoffs. Now they look embarrassing as hell, and due to the fact that they essentially lack legs, they don't keep me as warm. I only now wear them in emergencies around the house when I have no clean jeans.

When I moved here from my dad's place, I lost track of a bunch of my favorite clothes, which is a real shame, and I now spend half my days wearing this stupid work uniform of a dress shirt and a pair of dress pants. The shirts are too cold, while the pants are tight and make me sweat like crazy. I sometimes fall asleep in these clothes, since I arrive home late in the evening, and I'm often too tuckered out from my job to do anything.

You made me laugh in middle of the night when you used the word "tuckered." IT isn't a word I am used to hearing these days, especially from someone your age.

We kind of have an aging population up here, so I spend a lot of time around old people. :P

Most all the shirts I have are plain white tShirts & I used to wear shorts most of the time. I'm from south Louisiana which is hot & humid most of the year & I find that clothing cooler. I live in Vermont now which gets alot colder & stays cold for much longer; I haven't been able to wear shorts outside in months. But I still wear shorts inside because my legs are more comfortable in them due to sensory issues & I still wear the plain white tShirts outside but I wear a jacket with em.

Yes I do, I'm terrible about this. I have lots of nice things to wear, and cute outfits, but I tend to have only a few favorite items that I wash and wear over and over like that one outfit is my uniform. I tend to only want to wear that one currently favorite pair of jeans or the one and only top I like the best.

I'm frustrated with myself because I would like to use the rest of my clothes, for variety, but I get attached to the most comfortable items.

I also get a brainfog, brain shutdown thing happening just standing in front of my rack of clothes thinking of choices to put together. Similar to the overwhelmed feeling some people get in a supermarket, I get overwhelmed by the choices factor, rather than enjoying outfit planning, so I constantly revert to the favorites.

Another sensory shorts fan asking: would a long seasonal coat be a solution to this?

when I find something I like [comfortable, goes with jeans, sunglasses, a slightly fitted jacket, and boots] If I can afford to, I will buy multiples. I hate when something I love becomes literaly threadbare, and I can't wear it anymore. The only problem is that some people start to assume that I never change my clothing.

I'm a lot like you, wear the same comfy clothes over and over, although I try to change them up for work (not so great at it though, clothes are not my forte). But my question to you is, what kind of super duper pants are you wearing that have lasted with so much wear over 5 years? Mine wear out a lot faster!

I just don't know. I like being comfortable, but also, I like nice clothes. Also, I don't like people (i.e. women) to hate me because I look more stylish than them so most of the time I have the same relationship to clothes that a person with eating disorder has with food.

I do note that I will wear the same pair of comfy shoes/boots until they fall apart and all the while wishing they weren't as smelly as all that.*

*note to self: start buying 2 pairs of comfy shoes/boots at the time, it will be totes worth it

I never considered it before but it would have to go down to the ankles to cover my legs & not have too much wind/air going up from under it & it would also probably be kind of tight around the legs especially when sitting in order to insulate them.

Myy pants are just a normal pair of khaki colored pants, not jeans, from Wal-Mart, but I am a virtual recluse. When I do go out, I just go where I need to go, do what I have to do, and return home. so there is not that much wear and tear on the pants. The bottom hem is gone, just threads all the way around, but no holes in seams or any other issues.

Yes, me too, I'm a big fan of buying multiples when I discover that something I just bought is a total "Love it, want to wear it forever" kind of item for me.

Wal-Mart makes pretty good clothes. Some of them are anyway. I bought this jacket from them for $17 and I liked it so much I bought it in every color. I've been wearing them all winter. They're great except when it's near freezing outside.

My favorite clothes are a pair of jogginpants with an even unsightlier nightgown on top them.
The day I dare to leave my appartment whilst wearing this will actually be a personal triumph.

Yes I wear the same things every day. It is the only way I can cope.
