Where do you work and what kind of pallet jack do you use? Depending on the weight and length of the forks on the jack you have to move it around so the wheels aren't resting on the planks.
Customers usually come first so I'd just try your best to be polite and assist them in whatever way you best can do so. A highly social enviroment isn't for everyone though, personally, I prefer to avoid any customer oriented job I can.
