Hi everyone, my name is Sharon and I'm an insomniac.

Bloody 07.30 here and I still haven't been to bed, the sun is up, and I feel like I'm going to be awake for hours.

FFS. Post here if you're similarly afflicted, or if you have some unconventional advice or humour you wish to impart. Hugs are also welcome.

Well, is only 10pm here but still I am an insomniac and am usually awake all night unless icrawl into the sleeping pill bottle. I thought Aspergers and insomnia were the same thing. I will spend the night probably looking for companionship. Usually just a random chatroom that will allow me to just sit without actually participating. Just sitting with my computer on next to me as a companion has become a habit that gets me through the night since I cannot find comfort in the physical company of human beings.

Oh hai everybody. Me again.

I'm pleased to report that I got a healthy 9 hours sleep, but pretty pissed off that the sandman struck between the hours of 09.00 and 18.00 GMT. This is becoming a regular habit, it wouldn't surprised me if I develop rickets and an allergy to garlic.

Currently 03.30. FFS

I advocate the acquisition of a non-human and nocturnal companion, like a cat. They provide better conversation than most of the people I know.

Hello, I'm LonelyJar, and I'm an insomniac. It's around 1:30 AM for me now, and later today, I'm supposed to be getting a phone confirmation about an in-person interview for a job I don't think I want. I thought I broke the habit these past few days, but in the end, I guess I let the habit break me.

Hello LonelyJar, I'm Sharon. Nearly 07.00 here and there's a voice in my head poking fun at me for failing so bad at going to bed.

I must stop referring to myself as Sharon. I think I'm the only one who finds it funny.

Did you get the interview for the job you don't want? It might be better than not working.

That would be a negative. I guess I have to start the job search process all over again.

P.S.: It's around 5 in the morning for me right now, and I didn't go to bed yet.

Is it normal for insomniacs to have conversations with themselves?

It's four in the morning and I've been up since nine yesterday morning. I have a city fair date today....tomorrow? Later... Definitely later. Not. even. tired. My name is BrilliantLife and I've been an Insomniac since elementary school. On the plus side, I've had a brilliant philosophical thought flow all night :)

3am. I have over an hour of driving ahead of me today, which is stressing me out. Getting continuous grief over "butching" my hair isn't helping matters. :x

3:49 a.m. Mind is trying to go back over every negative thought. I've got to stop it from wearing that pathway even deeper.

Just after 5am, been up since 12.30am, like a previous poster aptly put it, treading the usual path of dredging up negative thoughts, embarrassing situations from 10, 20, 30 years ago, inconsequential, random thoughts, all with a backing track that consists of a 10-second loop of a song that was on in the car this morning. Right now, I really wish I didn't have to care any more.

I suffered with insomnia for about 20 years, but recently (last year or so) have been sleeping normally...hopefully this was a one-off.

Hopefully tomorrow night will be better.
