Often. Like Elsa, I've worn masks that only hold me back. Life isn't a Disney movie, though.

Sometimes I wish it was but in real life there are no happy endings. I like to wander off away from everyone for a while so i can be myself without being judged.

This video makes me angry. While she's singing let it go, she's building structures and ignoring what is real. It encourages the ignoring of one's real condition. I hate it. Too much burden has been placed on women to ignore their suffering in the encouragement of societal development.

Yeah, but the visuals don't match. Her visual depiction is of building architecture. I don't get how this is letting go. And then she says at the end that the cold doesn't bother her. I think she is a male personification of the condition of women. Which is ... suck it up and enjoy what man creates. The part where she loosens her hair really sickens me. This is a male dream of female rebellion.

In the context of the film, I think it's meaningful. Elsa was born with the magic power of controlling ice (it's "real" in the film), and when she was very young she accidentally hurt her sister with it. As a result, she hid herself away from the world while her parents put her through training to control all emotion and be perfectly calm so that her powers would never show themselves again, even on accident due to being angry, scared, excited, etc. They believed she would be seen as a monster if they were seen, and Elsa became afraid, too.

During the song, Elsa has fled her kingdom after being discovered and is being her true self again away from all the people who she had to play the perfect (but emotionally "cold" and calm) princess for.

So then this is the scene showing her breaking away? I still find it interesting that what she chooses to create with her power is what man can create without it. I only see a male vision of feminine power.

Why do these things have to be male or female... ? Can't a woman enjoy something traditionally for men like architecture or technology because it appeals to her for personal reasons?

Your views sound a lot more sexist than anything in the video, honestly. A woman is not being controlled or confused if she likes something other than flowers and baking, and a movie isn't degrading women through the use of masculine power if it shows them doing so.

If I had the power of controlling ice, I would not be building stairs and palaces. I'm going to rant now because this is the Haven and I'm having a psychotic breakdown: I am so sick of men thinking that the only things of value are what they create. There are billions of variations on what can be done. What you (and I am being bitchy now) have created is not the only way things can be done.

I'm so tired of snow that the last thing I'd want is an ice palace.

You could create a snake palace! With heat rocks and such! Heheh and beable to create your own beer and wine hehe.

No kidding the song has nothing to do with man or patriarchy at all its about her breaking away so she can be herself and is able to make things herself to her own liking, the cold doesn't bother her because she is like an ice elemental shes magic and immune to it. She doesn't need a man to make things or have to appreciate what a man makes she can make things herself at the wisp of an arm in an instant who wouldn't want powers like that? But also who would want to be judged? She had to hide herself and shut herself in for so many years and now she is free to do as she pleases. She cares about her sister so much she doesn't want to hurt her again and unlike most of the other Disney movies where the man is the one that saves her its her own sister expressing her love to her. I have a feeling you never saw the movie Ann2011 its a great movie the protagonist is a woman and the rescuer of the the woman is a woman not a prince charming!

I like it. It shows that girls can like all kinds of things and they're free to break free from traditional female roles, if they wish to do so.

I will watch the film and my apologies AspieOtaku. Not sure why I reacted so strongly when I saw this video. Sometimes I am not that rational.
