Just need to vent. I work cleaning houses. I make less than minimum wage, and I don't get paid for travel time. I was gone 7 hours today, and brought home $24. I felt like I was going to pass out most of the day. My hand slipped cleaning a shower door and I ripped some skin and part of the nail off my thumb, it bled pretty bad. My skin is sensitive to chemicals and the smell bothers me pretty bad. The vacuum going sounds like someone screaming in my ear. I have to take frequent breaks, which seems to bother my boss. I had a biopsy on my cervix yesterday and am still sore, plus back pain and what I thought was a uti but turns out it might be kidney stones. My boss rarely tells me more than 24 hours ahead of time when she needs me to work. I'm just so overwhelmed with all of it. On the verge of a mental breakdown. Did I mention I have 2 other part time jobs and I'm going to school? I think I might have to quit this one, I can't do it much longer.

Sounds like they are ripping you off!
I hate it when I get sensory overload it's so disorientating and painful. If it is making you feel that bad all the time, quit, 24$ is not worth having a meltdown over. Try to find an easier workplace. I know how tough it can be having to work in sh***y environments, the bills add up and sometimes 24$ can make a big difference but your health comes first.
Hang in there.

Thanks, I get $7.50/hr, minimum wage here is $7.90/hr, but this job pays cash, it's a small, independently owned business. I don't get paid travel time, and in this case, there were three of us, and we were doing a large house that was mostly bare floors. There is only one vacuum and one mop being used so I had to wait outside for an hour for them to finish, but I didn't get paid for that, either. I have another job that is also part time that pays $10.50/hr that is far less stressful, and another that I'm doing as a favor to a friend who manages an apartment complex for $12/hr. I also clean my neighbor's apartment once a month or so for $100 (which is probably more than it's worth, but he makes a lot and he knows I need the money) so I have enough income to quit, I just stress that I made this commitment, but I'm not sure I'm even that helpful on days like this.

That's a lot of problems to have to deal with. You are an amazing person for being able to handle it all at once! You certainly deserve to vent a little.

There is nothing wrong or shameful in quitting a job that distresses you so. As one of those people in the world who have never made it in the "big time" (college degree, 40k/year salary, etc) I've tossed more s**t jobs to the curb than I can count, I was just there for the money while I could handle it, then I was gone....

You're young, in school, there will be a lot of crappy jobs you can just toss aside. Don't let your young adulthood ruin the rest of your life, you want good experiences that build your character, toughing out a crap job does build character but it sounds like you already have that. :) You have a lot going on so concentrate on the things that benefit you most and a 7.50 /hour cleaning job is not worth holding onto to save your integrity. In fact if it were me at this point, I'd walk right up to the boss lady and state that you're being used and underpaid and it was "nice" working for them but you'll be leaving now without notice! :) :) yeah though in seriousness, concentrate on the better jobs and your schoolwork! :)
