Last weekend, my husband, Bobby, went into the hospital and was diagnosed with congestive heart and lung failure [ and other stuff] He is now home and on oxygen. His prognosis is not great. I am worried about him. I am worried about LJ. I just wanted to tell my friends.

I'm so sorry to hear this Vicky. Here's hoping he can get good treatment and stay on the good side of it for a long, long time.

Not sure what that is, but it doesn't sound good. Hope he gets better.

My grandmother was diagnosed with this and managed to live with it for years. I know it's scary but don't give up hope and take good care of him. Some people can be real fighters and a doctors prognosis isn't always correct. If he sees you upset though it'll only hurt him so try to keep your chin up ok.

Thank you all. So far, he is feeling much better. I know that heart failure is never cured. I do know that what the patient does in the first 6 months can greatly effect the rate of progression later. His salts are now under 1200 a day. He is eating right, following his very limited fitness routine, is needing a little less oxygen from the machine, and has lost 26 pounds [ at least 15 of it water. losing the water has to do with diet as well. he is not on lasix because of other issues] His ankles are no longer swollen, which is good.

when you guys give your good wishes and concern, you have no idea how much it means to us.

Vicky, I am sorry to hear about the health problems you and your family are having.
I know you probably already know about this, but just in case you haven't considered it-
There is a link between animal protein and cancer. There is a lot of information on the internet about it or you can read The China Study.
With the right diet and exercise cancer can be reversed and many times heart disease can be reversed also.
Don't give up. I wish you and your family well.

To vickygleitz, sorry to hear that. As others have said though, with the correct meds and management folk can do pretty well for quite some time, so don't give up hope!

As for you, Marybird..... Heart failure and cancer are two entirely different things. And being a vegetarian isn't going to cure cancer, either.... *facepalm*
