This really gets on my nerves, its my mother again so you know it must be bad if she is mentioned.

I own a 1L car and it is about 9ft longish in length. (self measured in the wind)

Mother thinks she can fit a pool lid 7ft by 7ft in size IN my car. WTF? (and don't get me started on the width either)
I tried to explain to her that it can not fit in the car because once you take off the engine size the car is only about 6ft long inside. Then she goes off on another one of her tantrums (she has whenever she can't get her own way) and starts saying I'm so spoilt and selfish and I never help.
But I'm fine with them using my car, its just that its idiotic because any person would be able to tell just by looking at it, that it won't fit in.
And its one of those thermal lids so you can't fold it over because it's solid and thick.
I tried to get my partner to go out there and help them anyway, because eventually she would figure out it will not fit, but my partner just outright refuses which makes us look even more unhelpful. I can't go out and help because I suffered an allergic reaction the other day and feel like I am slowly dying.

So frustrating.
I think some members of my family are actually just stupid.

People like this are very annoying and frustrating. No matter how many ways you try to explain why something doesn't work they refuse to accept it and insist you are just being negative or unhelpful. Would mounting it to the roof be an option?

I actually laughed a bit imagining that scenario (at her, not you). I hope she has the decency to apologize for throwing a fit now that she knows it won't go in there, at least... :/
