Today my younger brother learned that his friend (only seventeen years old) passed away in a boating accident. It hurts to see my brother in this way, but I don't know what to say or do because I know that nothing anyone does is going to make him feel better. At the moment, all that I know to do is pray.

Often, I am not good at using the right words. If I say something, will I say the wrong thing, instead, should I let my parent's comfort him like they have been? If I don't, will it seem like I don't care? If I should say something, what should I say?

If nothing else, tell him that you're there to listen at least.

Thank you. I didn't use these words, but I have been asking him "how are you doing?" and "are you okay?" To hopefully let him know that I am there to listen.
