I've been at my current job go r six months now and I was doing pretty well until two weeks ago. But one bad phone call, in those six months, has completely ruined me. Before then my medication was actually helping me act less autistic.; doing my job well and getting along with my coworkers. But now all that is slowly unraveling for some reason; going back to saying weird dumb shut and making stupid mistakes that make me look like an idiot.. I keep trying to tell myself: " I just need the weekend to relax and all will be well" Two weeks later I can't seem to get out of it. Now I am really worried I'm going to get fired in the near future. I am really just in a tail spin and nothing is getting better. I fear l it is really putting my employment in jeopardy.

Can you get therapy? Maybe a week off? Are there things that make you feel better? A weighted blanket helps me.

At worst, let me tell you this. I'm 64yo and I've lost more jobs than I can remember. But I got through. I'm on permanent disability now, for the last six years. But I worked and got fired for decades and survived. Remember that nothing will be the complete ruination of you. That doesn't mean to ignore it. But whatever happens, you'll manage.

I do resent how miserable life is for us - I don't think I should have been asked to hold a job at all in the first place.

Can you try for a seasonal job, and pare expenses way down? That way you wouldn't have to last longer than 6 months out of a year. I worked temp 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off for one summer and it was fabulous! And then I let somebody talk me into taking a job.

Oh - don't let anybody shame you! My mother was always on about the almighty job. She was wrong.

Care to share what that one bad phone call entailed? If not, that is okay too. My therapist gave me a valuable tool for dealing with situations like this. He said to tell myself the following: "I am having the thought that ....." Sometimes this helps me realize that all I'm having is a thought. The reality is that I'm okay. I just need to convince my stupid brain that I'm ok :D
