I was talking to my mother yesterday on the phone and the conversation was going ok. That is until I mentioned that I was going to look into moving away from my step dad's house. We had talked about this before and she never said what she said yesterday ever before. She said "So you want to leave him there to die by himself." I was shocked by this and quickly switched the conversation and wrapped up the call as fast as ettiquite would allow.

A little background on my mother. She doesn't believe in ASD or any other mental illness. She will deny to this day my Grandmother was mentally ill despite overwhelming documentation to the contrary. She also likes to keep people on edge and nitpick about anything to start a confrontation then denying that she started it. I personally think she is a low grade sociopath. Thank goodness she doesn't know about this forum or most anything to do with the net.

Sorry to go off on a rant, but this really annoys me to no end.

Yikes...seems like your mom was guilt-tripping you. Definitely not right. Does anyone else live there besides you and your stepdad? Is he able to physically care for himself or would he need a caregiver? If he's mentally fit and able to function around the house, then I don't understand why your mom is so concerned about his wellbeing.

He's able to care for himself just fine.
