I had my first meeting with a new psychiatrist yesterday and I found the whole experience a huge disappointment. I was not seeking a diagnosis. I wanted to access therapy and support but the waiting list for CBT in my area is a year. How do I just wait when each day is so hard? I spend most of my time obsessing about therapy and treatment now. Maybe I should just focus on getting through each day until I can start therapy? Thanks for reading.

Yep...that's what you're going to have to do....get through each day.

You probably have at least a passing knowledge of CBT principles. Try to make use of them in your everyday life.

Do you have any special interests which can serve as a day-to-day distraction?

When I feel like I need sleep, I just put on old ballgames via YouTube.

I like reading, movies and videogames. I don't know if you would call any of them special interests.

I'm aware of CBT principles and I try to apply them to my daily activities. I force myself to do things that make me uncomfortable like making reservations at a restaurant or going out for a run when I really don't feel like doing anything at all. Thanks for replying.

It's great that you are being proactive about your life, despite what you go through.

I wish things were better for you. But they will get better.
